I was on desk for two hours after that and I mostly messed with my
weeding. I withdrew all the books I had pulled but not before
looking through several of them because I'm easily distracted by
interesting books. There were two books of random facts, and I
learned that clocks run “clockwise” because they were invented in
the northern hemisphere, where sundials go right to left, not left to
right. Or at least that's one theory. There was also a book on
alien abduction, written by a psychologist, that offered techniques
for figuring out if you had been involved in a close encounter. Yet
another example that gives me confidence that even I can write a book
and get published some day.
After my lunch break I had a walkthrough and then I headed back out
to the stacks. I was out there for about three hours (because I was
off desk for the rest of the day) and I made it through one-hundred
pages, which got me through an entire row of shelves. I stopped at
5:30PM so I would have time to withdraw all the books, which I had to
do on the computer down in circulation because there was too much
happening at the desk. I also had just enough time to refill my DVD
display. So yeah, five hours of weeding. That was basically my day.
On my way home I picked up Jimmy John's and Sonic for dinner, similar
to what I did however long ago that was. I don't want it to become a
habit but it gave me something to look forward after this long week.
I watched videos while I ate and then played CoD: WW2 for
awhile. There seemed to be some lag issues throughout the night but
overall I had a pretty good night. I found my groove in Domination
and had a couple games where my team won and I finished in first
place. I still think I will get my ass handed to me more often than
not if the teams aren't balanced (or aren't weighted in my favor) but
it was fun tonight. I also had some good games of War. In one of
them I joined during the second half and the other team was obviously
way better. It was Operation Breakout and we didn't get anywhere
close to capturing the first objective until the last minute when
they moved back to the next objective. There were just wanting to
boost their XP but I was cool with it because I like playing the game
and it can be annoying when you just want to play but then it's over
after the first objective. I was also trying to finish a contract
and a daily order, which I was able to do during the next objective.
By the end of it we lost, but I ended up on the top of the
leaderboard, even above the guys on the other team who were really
good, probably because I was playing the objective, building things,
destroying things, planting bombs, and that adds a decent amount of
points. Anyway, the point is I had fun, which is always the goal.
And now it is almost two o'clock in the morning because I was
watching videos while writing this. I'll never learn.
