Today was an interesting day just because of my schedule.
I woke up before my alarm and watched part of an episode of 8 Out
of 10 Cats Does Countdown before running on the elliptical and
getting ready. I was able to finish the episode before leaving for
work.
I had two walkthroughs when I got to work. On my second one I picked
up a box in the mailroom that had instruction books for the 1040EZ.
Now we just need all the other stuff to show up. I thought there
would be more today but apparently not.
I was off desk for two hours after that and spent a decent amount of
that time updating the webpage for the tech class today. It came
down to the wire to get it done before the class started but I
managed it. And then I read a few articles.
I went to dinner at 3:00PM. Yeah, three o'clock. That's way too
early for dinner. I wasn't hungry and there was no way it was going
to hold me until the end of the day. But that's the only way the
schedule could work today.
When I got back we had our department meeting (hence the early
dinner). We started with a tornado drill building walkthrough, going
through the whole process. Then we did our regular meeting thing,
talking about policies and catching up on various things.
I was on desk briefly after the meeting, just long enough to pass
along a bunch of purchase requests. Then I helped the teen librarian
set up for the class tonight. And then I had a walkthrough, during
which I pulled a bunch of books to add to my Mystery display because
all of my backup books had been checked out. I also got briefly
sidetracked messing with one of our front doors because the elbow
joint broke. We could fix it so we just locked it. Luckily people
were still able to access the door next to it using the handicap
button (because that door doesn't have a handle on the outside).
We had six people come for the class, and it would have been nice if
there were more, but I think they got a lot out of class. A lot of
information was covered and the patrons asked a lot of questions. At
the end we gave away the book we bought, and the guy presenting the
class also gave away a giant book on basic home repair, so that was
pretty cool.
When the class was over I got everything put away, checked my email
really quick, and then went downstairs to close with the other
librarian (who was there for a different program) while the assistant
closed upstairs.
On my way home I stopped at my Mom's house to pick up my Amazon
package, because I forgot to change the delivery address to my house.
The package contained my sound machine and new Bluetooth speaker. I
briefly checked out the sound machine and I'm not sure how I feel
about it but we'll see. I think the white noise setting is too
high-pitched, which I feared it would be, so I'm probably going to
try the rain setting tonight and see how that goes.
When I got home I played a couple quick matches in CoD: WW2.
For daily orders I needed to win a game of Hardpoint and a game of
Domination. And as luck would have it, I quickly got into both games
and was able to win both. Then I caught up on my written notes for
the day before starting to write this.
And now I have a headache, so I am going to hopefully quickly record
my audio journal and go to bed. Tomorrow will also be weird because
I'm spending the morning at an outreach event. Who knows about the
afternoon.
