Last night I got eight hours of sleep and woke up before my alarm. I
got up earlier than I did yesterday so I had time to watch some
videos and click around the internet for awhile before running on the
elliptical and getting ready.
Today was another day at work where I felt like I didn't really
accomplish much. I had two walkthroughs when I first arrived and I
ran into my friend's sister and her baby. I run into my friend's dad
on a regular basis but this was the first time I've run into his
sister. I held the baby several months ago when he was maybe a month
or two old. He is huge now. She said he's in the 96th
percentile for height. Or length? I don't know at what age it goes
from length to height. Either way, he's getting big.
After the walkthroughs I was on desk for two hours and I mostly just
read news articles and library-related articles. I also helped a few
patrons with printing and email stuff, and answered a lot of phone
calls. Then I was off desk for an hour and looked up articles and
videos for Getting Over It and game theory.
When I got back from dinner I played Getting Over It for
awhile so I could get a feel for the game again. I managed to get
the highest I've ever been, but I don't know that's saying much
because it's only the third time I've played. And I'm awful.
I had two walkthroughs and then I set up for my video game
discussion. And then I played for half an hour before calling it
quits because no one showed up. Kind of disappointing, although also
a bit fitting, playing a game about frustration while becoming
frustrated about real life. I really want the video game discussions
to be a thing but they don't happen regularly enough and I don't
think they are promoted well enough. I think this program would
appeal to the demographic we're going for but I don't think the
demographic we're going for knows this program exists. There is one
more discussion scheduled for this semester and it may be the last
one because if I can't get anyone to show up I'll have a hard time
justifying future discussions.
The rest of the evening was uneventful. I handled a few emails, read
a bit of an unreleased book, and that was it. When I got home I ate
some Oreos to make up for my disappointment, and then ordered flowers
for Valentine's Day for my Mom and sister. And now it is getting
late so I'm going to record my audio journal and go to bed. I'm
apparently off desk for five hours tomorrow. I might start pulling
my weeded books because I don't really have anything else I want to
do. Although I could start on my homebound lists. We'll see.
