February 11, 2018

This weekend has not been a good one for sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night because my Bluetooth speaker had stopped working. I turned it back on, and it seemed to be doing alright, but then early in the morning the volume on it spiked and it was terrifying. I had it sitting on my ironing board near the foot of my bed, so I jumped up to turn it off, and in the process of doing that I got a massive cramp in my left calf. I dealt with the residual pain from that for most of the day, so that was fun.

All that happened around eight o'clock and I decided to just get up, mostly because now it was completely quiet in my room. I walked around a little bit, trying to stretch my calf muscle out, and realized I was still too tired to do anything productive, so I went out to the living room, turned on Spotify, and took a two hour nap on my couch. Such a comfortable couch.

And then the only productive thing I did with my day was my laundry. I had so many ideas for things to do, and then I used my horrible night of sleep as an excuse to just sit around all day. I played a little bit of a few new-to-me video games that I have been meaning to try for awhile. Tiltagon is like a marble game, where you guide a ball along a path and try not to fall off the edge. Pumped BMX+ involves riding a bike across the screen and doing tricks. And Eternal Winter is a minimalist where you play a scientist on an arctic expedition and explore things. All of them fun but I didn't play them for too long.

I also played Staxel again, for the first time since last weekend, maybe. I decided to get into cooking so that kept me busy for a little while. Then the season switched to Winter and there is an event for several days where you can catch fish and turn them in for rewards, so I spent awhile farming fish. I got all of the special items using the golden fish and I'm on the last day of the event now trying to get all of the regular fish I can so I can exchange them for lanterns. I'm still hurting for money, so after the event I'll be back to waiting for crops to grow, but we'll see if I can keep up with the cooking thing.

I spent five hours over the course of the day watching an eight-hour video of all of the Neebs Gaming Subnautica series videos up to this point. The put all twenty-two videos into one in anticipation of the new series starting soon. They played using the pre-release version of the game and basically made it through everything that was in the game. Now that the game has been fully released they are going to continue playing with the new content. It is a single-player game where you crash land onto a watery planet and you have to survive. Not all that entertaining to watch on its own, but the Neebs guys made it really entertaining by having one guy be the stranded person and the other guys act like they are back at HQ and are helping him through the game. It adds a really interesting angle to the game and I'm obviously into it because I watched all the videos back when they came out and now I'm five hours into a video watching them all again.

I played a little more CoD: WW2 tonight and my goal was to make it to level fifty-two, which I did, so the night was a success. Had I played that instead of the other games today I would have easily made it to the next prestige, but that will have to wait for another day.

And now it is eleven o'clock and I'm tired, so I'm going to record my audio journal and go to bed. Tonight I will be sleeping with my bathroom fan on, so there is at least some background noise going on. Today I ordered a new Bluetooth speaker (not the same brand as my current one), but I also ordered a noise machine, so I can use that at night. I figure it makes sense to use something that was actually made for the purpose of helping people sleep, as opposed to using a fan or a Bluetooth speaker playing a recording of a fan. Fingers crossed the sounds are decent. But I'll find that out on Tuesday.
