It's February already. It really is disconcerting how quickly time
flies these days. It's definitely speeding up and sometimes I worry
I'm the only one who notices it.
Last night I got less than five and a half hours of sleep and I woke
up a few time throughout the night, so it wasn't great. I've been
tired since I woke up this morning. Not a great way to spend the
day. But I did get out of bed immediately when my alarm went off and
was able to run on the elliptical before getting ready and going to
work.
The usual opening stuff happened. I sharpened a bunch of pencils, so
that made me happy, but I also had a slight headache, which isn't a
great thing to have while using an electric pencil sharpener. I got
done with the usual stuff a little early so I went down and restocked
the Mystery display and swapped out DVD display signs and added more
DVDs to the display. I had planned on doing that later in the day
but I'm glad I didn't wait because we ended up having to adjust the
schedule and I was on desk most of the day. Or at least it felt that
way.
I had to move several of my upcoming events in April and May into
other rooms because the room I had them in won't be available during
construction. That was kind of a pain. And it's going to be a tad
inconvenient when those events roll around, but life will go on.
I was on desk for two hours after that. I helped a patron figure out
how to print a document and then looked up and printed tax forms for
another patron. Tis the time of year for countless tax form
questions at the library. Other than that I read library-related
articles and probably did other random stuff.
My lunch got bumped from noon to one o'clock so I could do the noon
and 12:30PM walkthroughs. Those were uneventful, and I am always
okay with that. In between those walkthroughs I talked to my
coworker, helped a patron find a book about antiques, and looked at
our new book cart to kill a few minutes before lunch.
After lunch I had a walkthrough and then read news articles. And
then I was on desk for two more hours. I answered a lot of phone
calls and helped the occasional patron in person. I also read some
news articles and then switched to mild research for the April video
game discussion. It was mostly just a way to stay awake because I
didn't have the motivation to do other work things. And it was kind
of productive... maybe.
When I got home I ate leftover Chipotle and watched YouTube videos.
Later in the night I got around to played a little bit of CoD: WW2
and once again had a mix of games. Some good, some far less than
that. It's not fun getting completely dominated and it's not fun
completely dominating.
Now I'm watching a livestream and
trying to keep my eyes open while writing this. The struggle is
real, so I'm going to record my audio journal and go to bed. I
should be able to get a full night of sleep tonight and I'm looking
forward to that. It will be night two of listening to a video
of a fan through my Bluetooth speaker while I sleep because I have
given up on my fan with it's random high-pitched squawking. It
worked out well last night so I think it will work just as well
tonight.
