Today I didn't have any extra project to do at work and an unexpected
parent came to help during second grade reading groups, making my
presence unnecessary, so I did other things. I retyped a ten-page
family history about my grandma's mother's parents, which actually
didn't take very long. Then I worked on my newspaper. I got it
looking pretty good. I added in the three articles that are done
(hopefully my partner will send me another one) and I also added in a
weather forecast. I still need to come up with some other things to
fill things out. If I could write another article that would be
great by I kind of want to throw in small incidental things, like
community events or something, that are related to the topic of
intellectual freedom. We'll see what I can come up with.
And that was pretty much my day at work. I think four classes came
into the lab today but nothing eventful happened so I just spent most
of my day working on my own stuff. With a brief break to look for
science-related books for a really smart second grader who has
apparently worked his way through all the relevant books at the
public library.
On my way home I stopped at Target to buy things. My shopping list
of edibles looked like I was going on a camping trip. Bread, peanut
butter, trail mix, fruit snacks, cheese sticks, and orange juice. I
need to broaden my diet a bit. I had an interesting talk with the
cashier at checkout. She apparently wants other types of cheese in
string cheese form. There are other types of cheese in stick form
but my only answer for her cheese suggestions was that they must not
string well.
Tonight I found several more articles about problem-based learning.
As long as they all work out they should put me over the minimum
limit for articles needed. Now I need to start reading and writing
annotated bibliographies for all of them. That is going to be rough.
Especially on top of all the other reading I need to do. Grad
school really is all about the reading.
Tomorrow, hopefully I can finish the newspaper. I also need to check
on what reading I need to get done before the weekend so I'm not
completely lost if the professor references something from the
reading. Hopefully it will be a productive day.
