I forgot something from the fifth grade teacher yesterday morning.
One of the kids asked her how to spell 'triangular' and her
completely genuine response was “T R I angular”. I pointed out
that she had just spelled the easiest part of the word, leaving the
hard part to the kid, and when she realized that she immediately
started laughing. It was funny.
This morning I set up the second monitor at work. It causes a tiny
bit of lag when I've got a bunch of stuff open and I'm editing photos
but it is totally worth it. Today I was able to edit photos in
fullscreen, leaving the toolbars and other stuff on the other
monitor. That was so much better than having to work on a tiny
picture situated between the toolbars. I could also have the
original picture open on the other monitor as a reference. Life is
way better now.
I finished editing the picture I started on yesterday that was
crinkled and all sorts of messed up. Not to brag or anything, but it
looks really freaking good. I have no real skills in photo editing,
just a lot of time on my hands, so there is no reason for it to look
as good as it does. But I'm completely okay with it.
I helped with kindergarten literacy centers this morning. One of the
kids in my group arrived with only ten minutes left so instead of
listening to the story and drawing her neighborhood I just had her
looked through the book and I had a conversation with her about stuff
in the book. She's a pretty cool kid who has been through a lot of
crap in her short five years. Hopefully she can overcome all of
that.
When I didn't have classes in the lab I spent pretty much all my time
editing photos. My time for doing that is going to drop off
considerably starting next week and lasting until the beginning of
May. Not looking forward to that. Not even a little. I'm glad I
had the thought to at least get the flow of pictures for the
slideshow started before testing starts because that will at least
reduce some of my end of the year stress. Even if only by a little
bit.
Going back to the fifth grade teacher who was stirring her dip
yesterday, she sent out an email today thanking the mysterious person
who cleaned out the mini crock-pot the dip was in. I was knee-deep
in photo editing, all by myself, so I felt compelled to respond with
the fact that it was probably just licked clean. That lead to a
brief but funny exchange.
Tonight was a lot less productive than I would have liked. I wanted
to install my favorite Minecraft mods on my PC but that was
pretty much an entire fail. The only thing I managed successfully
was to add the resource pack I like. At least I don't have to look
at vanilla Minecraft anymore. At some point I need to figure
out the mod thing though. They all stopped working on my laptop as
well, which means all the work I put into my garden and trees was
completely pointless because they have all either disappeared or gone
back to vanilla plants. And I don't think they will miraculously
return when I get the mods working again. That is disappointing.
While messing with that I watched the Neebs livestream and later on
in the night Sark started streaming as well. I have them both open
right now. I decided to mute Sark's because I'll have access to the
recording later on so I can watch it this weekend maybe.
Starting this weekend after class, or next week at the latest, I need
to start putting some serious effort into my class assignments.
Those due dates are creeping up and I would prefer not to get boned
by them.
