March 30, 2015

Only two tests today. Sixth grade came in for the first part of their writing test this morning and this afternoon a few fourth graders came down to finish. Two of them weren't able to finish completely because they still need tickets reactivated. I would write more about testing but it is the same old crap. And it's late.

When I wasn't testing I had normal classes in the lab and I scanned and edited baby pictures. The pictures I got today had their corners cut off for some reason. I thought this would look weird when I added a border, and I want there to be a uniform look to all the pictures, so I used Gimp to add the corners back in. It was fairly easy on two of the pictures but on the third I had to recreate a dress and a column. I think I made it look passable though.

Today was the tenth anniversary of Mitch Hedberg's death. It is hard to believe that it has been that long. Still sucks because he is still my favorite comedian. I was reading an article about him today and learned that he had a different ending to one of my favorite jokes. The joke, with the added ending, is “I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, 'You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit.' As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit... unless you are a table.”

Tonight I read a textbook chapter. That took me most of the night and I've still got two more chapters to read for this week. I'll also have a discussion post, two posts for one of my group projects, and I need to start working on an individual assignment and continue working on my other group project. So much stuff. Mildly overwhelming.

I spent the last hour or so learning the main riff for the acoustic version of Krewella's Alive. It is a badass riff and I've almost got it figured out. I am using a couple YouTube videos slowed down and tab that is kind of right. Combining those I've come up with something that sounds pretty good. It would be better if I still played guitar regularly and my fingers were up to the task of pushing on metal strings. But I don't and now my fingers, along with my left wrist, are killing me. But I can kinda play the riff now so that's cool. I also remembered how to play the opening to Life By The Drop by Stevie Ray Vaughn and Blackbird by The Beatles. It would be nice if I hadn't forgotten ninety-percent of what I used to know how to play.

Now it is time to go to bed because it is after 11:30PM. I didn't mean to play the guitar for so long but I was getting so close with the Alive riff. And I'll probably regret it tomorrow, not only being tired but also my sore fingers and wrist, but oh well.
