I slept in until around sometime this morning and that was nice. And
then proceeded to not really do much with my day. Just the same old
thing, watching YouTube videos and clicking around the internet. I
came across a post somewhere about five abandoned wastelands and the
writing was pretty good. One of the places on the list was a huge
pile of lumber in Sweden. All these trees, over two and a half
billion cubic feet worth, were taken out by a cyclone, adding up to
almost $3 billion worth of lumber, and the government collected it
all and stacked it into a massive pile. Anyway, the writing:
“In 2005, Cyclone Gudrun nuzzled its way into Europe and snuggled
up with Sweden and Denmark. Hey, if you're going to anthropomorphize
a disaster, you might as well make it adorable, right?
Unfortunately, Gudrun didn't know its own strength and ended up
cuddling the roofs off of buildings, Eskimo kissing a few vehicles
into oblivion, and generally spooning the holy shit out of half a
continent.”
Tonight at work I wrote more of my friend's letter, finished reading
Mrs. Frisby And The Rats Of Nimh,
and read some short stories. I discovered earlier today that there
are two sequels to The Rats Of Nimh,
written by the daughter of the original author. So I need to read
those now. There is also an animated movie adaptation from the
eighties, and it is on Netflix, so I think I will watch that
tomorrow. I need to watch Netflix more and at least get my moneys
worth out of it.
