I actually exercised this morning. I'm a little bit shocked. But
maybe it is a sign of change. Again.
Today at work it felt like I didn't spend much time in the lab. Or
at least time in the lab when I didn't have a class. In the morning
I input a few guardians into my student directory before going to
second grade reading groups. I did the listening center today but
they don't have the ability to plug in multiple headphones so instead
of listening to the story on CD, I read them one of the Frog And
Toad stories. Then they had to
fill out a diagram with the characteristics for each character and
then the characteristics they share. That didn't take very long
because second graders don't really get characteristics so I had them
spend the rest of the time answering the questions at the end of the
story.
After that group I had to go back to
the lab to help get first graders logged into the computer. Then I
went back to reading groups. In my absence a para took over the
listening center and had the new group taking turns reading. I
stepped in for her and she went the other group. I had the one kid
who is usually pretty much off the wall but the para had bribed the
group with room money, which the kids can use for various things, and
they were all really well behaved.
From reading groups I went back to
the lab and helped sixth graders print the stories they have been
working on. They were printing on legal paper and the printer can't
be trusted with a stack of legal paper so I was having to put in one
piece of paper at a time. That was fun. The para who was with them
had to leave to go to her college class so instead of going to help
in the lunchroom at 11:30AM I stayed with the class until noon, and
then headed to the lunchroom.
I took over for one of the office
ladies and spent a fairly uneventful half an hour wiping down tables,
talking to kids, and helping them open their milk cartons. After
that I went back to the lab and stood around while third graders took
Reading Counts tests and did math on Odyssey before getting to eat my
own lunch. I think I'm getting used to eating later but my stomach
hasn't really got on board yet. It would probably help if I ate a
more substantial breakfast.
After my lunch I had the two
kindergarten classes back-to-back and then second graders to end out
the day. Right after they left I went up to look at the desktop
computers in the SPED room. They have four but only three are
working. I got logged into one but the mouse and keyboard stop
working as soon as you log in. Another one I couldn't log into at
all, and the third seemed to be fine other than being incredibly
slow, but it apparently freezes after awhile. So I was really no
help in that endeavor.
When I got home, and for the rest of
the night, I just felt incredibly lethargic and disinterested in
everything. I basically just spent the night watching YouTube videos
and trying to talk myself into doing something, anything to fill the
time. It kind of sucked and I couldn't come up with anything that
would hold my interest. Since eight o'clock I have basically just
been waiting for ten o'clock so I can go to bed. Only an hour to go.
