On the keyboard, the semi-colon and the apostrophe should be
switched. I use the apostrophe way more often than I use the
semi-colon. And I don't think I'm alone in that. But my pinky is
left having to do a little sidestep every time I want to use a
contraction.
Today was the last MAP test. And it really put up a fight. They
came in at ten o'clock, tested until noon, had a lunch break, and
then the five who didn't finish came back around 12:45PM to finish,
with the last one leaving at 1:45PM, just in time for the
kindergarten classes. It was a long way to spend a day. I wrote a
bunch more in Morse Code during the first leg of the test and then
switched to writing normally but with my left hand. I am really out
of practice with that and would like to get back into it. But now
that MAP testing is over I probably won't. And I'll probably forget
Morse Code again.
When I wasn't watching kids test, and there weren't classes in the
lab, I worked on my spreadsheets. I discovered that all of the
lexile ranges that I wrote down immediately after a test are slightly
off from the “official” lexile ranges listed on the reports. I
didn't notice anything like that last year but I guess there is a
chance I was completely off. I'm hoping that isn't a thing now. My
guess is that they decided to adjust the scale recently and it didn't
get updated in time so the test shows one thing but the official
reports show another. The good thing is that all the other scores
match up, like the RIT and the individual subject scores. Next week
I'll start printing out reports for all the kids for their teachers,
who will then give them to parents at conference time. At least I
think that is what they do with them.
After school I had some cauliflower and sugar snap peas for a snack
and sometime later had dinner. I confused the lady at Chipotle
yesterday and ended up with a burrito that was not double-wrapped. A
single-wrapped Chipotle burrito is worthless. It had no structural
integrity, part of the tortilla got really hard when I reheated it
while other parts got really weak, and I was spilling rice all over
the place. And the burrito ended up really small, which made the
half I ate look pretty sad. I supplemented it with chips and steamed
broccoli and sugar snap peas.
Then I went and had a forty-five minute visit with the new volunteer
kid and had a blackberry cherry limeade and fries for dessert. It
turned out to be a pretty good visit. He had court today, which I
didn't attend because my supervisor said I didn't need to, and he
learned from his probation officer that the drinking issue he had a
couple weeks ago is going to count as a warning. That is good
because he really doesn't need to be in anymore trouble. He is also
going to a computer camp this weekend I think and got his laptop and
printer today. All for free which is pretty cool. All you need to
do is have a horrible family life and end up in foster care and then
maybe you too could get a free laptop. While we at our fries and
drank our drinks at Sonic we talked about music, computer camp,
school, college, careers goals, and other random things. It was a
good visit. And the weather was really nice today so I drove most of
the way there and back with my windows down and the sunroof open
because I recently remembered I had one.
I spent the rest of my night watching YouTube videos and not doing a
lot, other than paying my gas bill. And now it is way past my
bedtime because I don't have to wake up early for work tomorrow. But
it still sucks because I woke up early this morning and I am tired as
hell now. So I am going to go to bed.
