Today I didn't really sleep in and I didn't really do anything
worthwhile after waking up. I had the rest of my Panera baguette for
breakfast, having had the first part of it yesterday. I'm a big fan
of their baguettes but I haven't had one in over five years. I like
slowing peeling away and eating the hard outer crust before eating
the soft bread on the inside. I should probably add the eating of a
Panera baguette into my routine. At least once a month.
The rest of my morning I pretty much just watched YouTube videos.
And then I got ready and went over to my dad's for my grandma's
belated family birthday lunch. My aunt and uncle came into town, my
grandma's sister, my dad's cousin, and my other uncle (my dad's
brother) surprised her by driving in from Colorado. Lunch was good
but probably not as good as the lunch we had a couple weeks ago. I
had a cheese sandwich, fruit, coleslaw, corn on the cob that my
sister brined and then grilled, and some potato soup. And for
dessert we had a caramel apple cake that my aunt made, which was
really good. There were apple slices on the top that I ate
separately because they were good on their own but I didn't like them
on the cake, and the cake was dense, kind of like a cinnamon cake,
with melted caramel on it. Delicious. After lunch I ended up out on
the porch sitting in a pretty comfortable chair, just lounging with
my eyes closed. The weather was pretty nice and every now and then
there was a nice breeze. It was nice just sitting there and
relaxing.
Tonight at work I almost finished my friend's letter and knocked out
about a hundred pages in my book. Not a very exciting night. But it
did last two hours longer than it should have because I was working
with the two least experienced managers and they apparently didn't
get the memo that we're cutting hours. So not only was I there for
two extra hours, all of the concessionists were still there when I
left. They should have been gone an hour after we closed, at the
latest. And if they do get stuck there until after I leave, it
shouldn't be the entire concessionist crew, maybe just one or two
people. But whatever, all managers have to learn at some point. And
I wouldn't have minded staying the extra two hours if I didn't have a
headache, which I did, so it kind of sucked.
