I want the motivation to be passionately artistic and creative on a
daily basis.
My main accomplishment for the day was probably adding the four new
siblings into Odyssey and my student directory. That took me all of
fifteen minutes. Felt pretty good about myself.
We had an assembly today which inevitably led to my para friend and I
putting chairs away at the end. It went a step further today and we
also had to put the chair rack back in the closet area where it is
usually stored. That was a challenge because with all the chairs on
it, the rack is really heavy, and it was difficult getting the rack
over the lip leading into the closet. But we did it and no one got
hurt.
On the walk down the hall to our respective areas in the school my
para friend told some kids who were messing with a ball to get
wherever they needed to be. I called her a killjoy, she said she
does her best to take all the fun out of school, and I told her she
would be a great educator. It was kind of funny.
I asked one of the kindergarten teachers if he had anything that
needed to be done and he didn't have anything school related but he
did have a side project. He runs a daycare after school and during
the summer and he wants to compete with one of the other elementary
schools so he wanted me to call and find out what their prices were
because they know who he is so he didn't want to call. I tried a
couple times throughout the day but the lady I needed to talk to
wasn't there so I gave up. I made an effort though.
I had two classes that didn't show up today so I ended up sending out
another email looking for work. I sent one out earlier in the year
trying to fill out my schedule and that lead to literacy centers with
kindergarten and second grade, and giving a spelling test to second
graders twice a week. But I still have a lot of random spots
throughout the day, especially when classes don't show up. So I sent
out an email looking for random jobs. I got one from the secretary
to either prepare class pictures for the year book or to actually do
the yearbook layout for the classes. And one of the second grade
teachers had a question about iPads. And one of the kindergarteners
sent a nice email that also poked fun at the old computer aide and
said the principal should give me a raise (and he CCed the email to
the principal so it was pretty funny).
Tonight I did a whole lot of nothing. I discovered that my left
forearm is more hurt than I thought because I couldn't hold my giant
pan of spaghetti sauce with my left hand to poor over the pasta.
Well, I could hold it in my hand but I couldn't lift it. When I
tried to hold it over the pasta it wouldn't stay up. It was kind of
freaky. My arm was already a little worn out from video games and
typing every day and then shoveling snow this weekend did not help in
the least. I can't really take a break from the typing thing because
I work in a computer lab and I type about my life every day. I won't
be touching my Xbox for awhile though. I can probably handle some
Anno 2070 or another game
that is primarily mouse-based. Although my right hand could probably
use a break too so maybe just a break from video games. We'll see
how that goes.
