March 18, 2013

I had a rather slow start to my day. I ended up sleeping in again but I'm on vacation so I'm not going to beat myself up about it. This afternoon I went over to my grandma's house to take down decorations from the top of the cabinets. My dad stopped by so I could use his vacuum to clean the top of the cabinets while I was up there. He spent a minute or two reminding me how a jet of air comes out of the back of the vacuum and I kind of just nodded along because I was aware of this. Then I climbed the ladder and turned the vacuum on. While on the ladder, I was holding the vacuum at about head level and I learned the jet of air is powerful enough to hit someone in the face even if they are seven feet away. In this case, that someone was my grandma. She walked out to the living room where my dad was and let him no that he didn't mention anything in his speech about the jet of air hitting grandmas. It was incredibly ridiculous and I ended up laughing to the point of tears, which hasn't happened in awhile. In the end it didn't take very long to take everything down and vacuum and we ended up sitting in the living room and talking for a couple hours. That was pretty nice.

From my grandma's house I went to get my hair cut. It was at least two weeks overdue, probably closer to three, and I feel so much better now that it has been cut. After that I went and bought dog food at PetCo and random other stuff at Target. One of those random things being gum. I ran out and the past couple of days I have had to chew Doublemint. I'm not a fan.

Tonight I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and put a few more hours into Anno 2070. I managed to piss off all of my citizens at one point with a poor Ecobalance, went a few thousand dollars into debt, and had an energy shortage. By the end of the night I ended up getting everything back to normal. Normal for me anyway. Which isn't that great but I'm still stumbling along. Despite all the bad stuff, I got my first submarine and established my first underwater island where I have my algae farms. That is fairly significant. I feel like my main island layout is fairly poor and I am probably doomed to fail. But I'm going to see how long I can ride it out. I am tempted to start a new game and use one of the optimized island layouts that people online have come up with, just so I can see how a well laid out island runs. There is always the possibility that I could slowly start destroying and redesigning my current island but I don't know how well that would go over. Or if I want to take the time to do that.

Tomorrow I might start cleaning my room. It hasn't been done in a really long time and it really needs it. Much like my island in Anno 2070, it needs a whole redesign but I don't know if I am feeling that ambitious. We'll see where the day takes me.
