Yesterday it was in the 70s and today it was in the 80s. I quickly
remembered how much I dislike being hot and uncomfortable.
This morning as I was clocking in, one of the paras was talking to
one of the receptionists, commenting on how she wanted to wear
something green for St. Patrick's Day (a lot of classes where having
parties today) but all she could find was the lime green shirt she
was wearing. I just walked by in the background and said "poor
effort" as I walked out of the office. They mentioned how it
was hard to compare to my green shoes before carrying on with their
conversation. Later on when thinking about this interaction, I found
it hilarious. I pictured a movie where the two main characters are
having a conversation and out of nowhere someone walks by with a
random sarcastic remark and just keeps walking. I don't know how
funny it is in real life but in my head it is pretty funny.
There was only one test this morning and then I was left with a lot
of free time. With some of that time I ran with the para's joke
yesterday about writing a strongly worded letter about how we always
get stuck putting the chairs away after assemblies. I decided to
write to Obama about, demanding medals, crowns, and a lot more money.
I had the para proofread it, which is good because she caught a few
errors, and then we decided we should probably give it to the
principal because she most likely has a direct line to the President.
It was all fairly amusing and killed some time.
In between having a class or two in the lab I also worked on a small
project for one of the resource teachers who wanted a cover for her
folders that contained an educational Battleship
game. I didn't know much about her version of the game but I ended
up creating a grid in Excel, filling in some of the cells with
different colors to represent the ships, and had 'BATTLESHIP' written
at the top. I originally made it with blacks and grays but her only
critique was that she wanted it in color. It ended up being fairly
simple but it got the job done.
I gave the kindergarten teacher my
iPad (technically the schools iPad) to take over Spring Break so she
can mess around with it. I said if she liked it I would delete
anything off of it that she didn't want or reset it completely, and
let her keep it. She was really excited about it. At first she
didn't realize it was mine and when she found out she didn't want to
take it but I convinced her it was fine. I really only had it in the
first place so I could help the other teachers when they first got
them and that has run its course for the most part.
It was an early release day which
gave me a couple more hours before I had to go to work at the
theater. In that time I took a brief nap and played some Battlefield
3. I think trying to get better
at shooting down jets in Air Superiority is a lost cause. I can't
seem to figure out how much to lead my target when using the machine
gun and even when I do hit the target it seems to take way too many
bullets and I end up getting killed before I can finish the job.
When I am getting shot on the other hand, it seems like my jet is
made out canvas and balsa wood. It is pretty frustrating. Because
of this I ended up switching over to Capture The Flag and I am really
liking that. Both of these new game modes are awful for my K/D but I
don't really care. I still need to cut together the videos but today
I managed to shoot two helicopters out of the sky. I think one was
with an RPG and the other was with the canon on an armored vehicle.
I can't really remember outside of it being very satisfying.
Tonight at work all I did was read.
I wanted to finish reading Before I Fall
by Lauren Oliver and I accomplished that. It is a fairly long book
but it managed to keep me interested and it got pretty good towards
the end. One interesting aspect of the book was that I spent most of
the book disliking the main character. She had some redeeming
moments but a lot of the time I couldn't manage any real sympathy for
her. It does say something about the quality of the plot, however,
if I could read 470 while not really liking the main character for
most of it. I am interest to check out some of Lauren Oliver's other
books.
