I had another somewhat productive day. Not as obvious as cleaning my
entire room but I can't do that every day. Although part of my
productivity did involve room cleaning. Anyway, I started my day by
taking the giant TV that used to be in my room, out to the curb for
the garbage man. It was an old boxy one that was relatively heavy
but wouldn't have been as bad if it wasn't so awkward. All the
weight was in the front. I don't have a dolly or anything so in
order to move it out of my room, and then down to the curb this
morning, I put it on my old skateboard. When I was a kid I always
wanted to learn how to skateboard but not enough to actually learn.
I would stand on it and spin half-circles on the carpet but the most
adventurous I ever got was sitting on it and riding it down the
driveway. I finally got my money's worth though, using it to move
the TV. It was a bit of a bitch to turn but the trip didn't require
a lot of that so I survived.
When I got back inside I did my taxes. Hopefully correctly. For the
past few years I have been doing them online but I have never really
felt as confident about doing them online as compared to on paper.
The first year or two that I did them online I actually filled out
physical forms and then transferred my numbers onto the electronic
forms. But now I just wing it and answer the questions they ask me
and hope all goes well. According the questions I answered regarding
my federal return, I should be getting a significant chunk back. As
for my state return, I owed money for the first time ever. In the
past I would only get maybe a dollar or two from the state and would
usually just donate that to breast cancer research or whatever other
option they had that sounded good. This year I owed three dollars.
When I went to pay it a warning popped up saying I wasn't legally
required to pay if I owed less than five dollars. That was a pretty
tempting statement but it also felt like a bit of a trap. In the end
I paid it, not out of fear, but out of a feeling that I owed the
state money and it was my responsibility to pay it, even if it was
only three dollars. It would have bugged me if I didn't pay it.
From my taxes I moved onto organizing all of my credit card and bank
statements. I keep them in different folders because I don't really
know what else to do with them. I don't know how long I am supposed
to keep them so I just keep putting them into folders. According to
the ones I still had in the envelopes and stacked up on top of my
folders, I hadn't actually organized those statements since about the
middle of last year. I should get better at that. It took way too
long and it would be a lot easier just to pop them into a folder when
I get them.
I rode that wave of organization a little longer and started to
rename the pictures I have in my Words folder. Which include all the
funny and serious pictures I have found on the internet that have
captions on them. I laugh or am moved or have a deep though when I
see these pictures and then save them. But I don't rename them when
I do this so they all have nonsense names that don't relate to them.
So I started going through them today. I barely made a dent. I
started renaming them and then dropping them into a Funny or a
Serious folder. I made it through about 175 pictures but have over
2,700 to go. I might make it there. Maybe. When I save pictures
now though I have started to rename them right off the bat and put
them in the right folder. I'm taking steps in the right direction.
Tonight was Chipotle night and it was pretty good. I think it may
have been last week or the week before where I mentioned that it had
been delicious for as long as I could remember. Tonight was just
pretty good. The corn salsa was actually the best I've had in awhile
but that wasn't enough to bring the burrito as a whole up to
delicious. Can't win 'em all.
Later on in the night I really wanted to play a video game but didn't
have the motivation to click on any. My left arm is still kind of
bothering me so I am avoiding my
Xbox for a bit and I didn't feel like getting lost in Anno
2070 for hours. That left me
with well over a hundred other options because I might have a slight
problem with buying games when they are super inexpensive, but the
motivation just wasn't there. Woe is me.
