Last night I got a full eight hours of sleep (which was great), woke
up before my alarm, and got to click around the internet for awhile
before running on the elliptical, getting ready, eating lunch, and
going to work.
I was on desk for my first two hours at work and it was slightly
eventful. Not long after getting on desk I had to wake up a sleep.
And then I had to wake up another sleeper, along with the first
sleeper again. And on my first walkthrough I had to wake up the
first sleeper again and a third sleeper. There was a fourth sleeper
but he was at least pretending to read and no one was complaining
about him, so I walked right by him. When I wasn't waking up
sleepers I caught up on emails, read a few news articles, and read
part of short story.
My first walkthrough lasted forty-five minutes, which is about half
an hour at least longer than usual. I stopped at the children's desk
because the teen librarian and I wanted to let her know we could buy
the adulting books to give away at our classes. She ended up doing
that but along with one of the children's librarians, we ended up
have a long conversation about the recent illness sweeping through
the library and then the upcoming renovations.
When I got back to the desk I sent an email to the EMS director about
the possibility of them coming for one of our adulting classes.
Fingers crossed on that but I'm feeling good about it because he
seemed into the idea when he messaged my Dad back. Then I helped the
teen librarian set up for the teen club because I was being nice and
I was avoiding my article.
I was on desk for two hours after dinner and I kind of forgot what
all happened, because there wasn't much. I talked to my coworker,
worked on my article a little bit, and helped random patrons. Then I
was off desk for two hours and made actual progress on my article. I
really started hitting my stride in the last fifteen minutes of work,
which is the annoying part. That just means tomorrow I'm going to
have to get back into it. Hopefully that won't take all day.
When I got home I ate some tiger bread, clicked around the internet,
and watched way too many videos while trying to write this. It has
taken far too long. It's frustrating because I do it every time.
