This morning I got up, ate a little breakfast, and watched a recorded
livestream. Then I ran on the elliptical for nine minutes (a slight
improvement over yesterday) and then got ready. After that I started
my laundry and shampooed the carpet in the basement flood room. It
took me a little bit to figure out the shampooer but I think I did
everything right. I left fans going the rest of the day, moving them
around occasionally, and I think we're good to go. I might vacuum
down there tomorrow but other than that, I just need to call and set
up a time to get new carpet pad and have the carpet put back down.
My Dad and step-mom stopped by for a little bit to drop off the space
heaters I let them borrow. I think they got their new furnace on
Friday, which was perfect timing for the single-digit weather we
experienced this weekend. Or at least that's what my phone said the
weather was like. I stepped out on my front porch today to help with
one of the space heaters, but other than that I have remained
indoors.
As my laundry finished I ironed my pants for the week, got my clothes
put away, and put my pillowcases put back on my pillows. Now there's
nothing to worry about tomorrow. I appreciate when my present self
looks out for my future self. Like when I untie my shoes before
taking them off.
The rest of my afternoon kind of disappeared, and then I had dinner.
While I ate I watched John Mulaney's comedy special on Netflix and
then I played CoD: WW2. I managed to fulfill kill contracts
for Gun Game, Domination, and Team Deathmatch. I was in a lobby with
a bunch of Christmas noobs for the TDM games and it made me feel like
I was really good at the game. I always appreciate that.
I also livestreamed my gameplay via the built in streaming option
through Nvidia. I was curious to see how it worked and it is pretty
seamless. There wasn't any noticeable impact on the gameplay,
either, which was nice, because that can be an issue when trying to
play a game and stream it using the same computer. I did two tests,
each with a single game, and then I did it for the rest of my play
session. The first test took a little bit but the recording came
looking good. The other test, and now the longer recording,
definitely aren't 720p (which is what I recorded them in, but I think
they just need to fully render. I didn't actually pull up the stream
to see what it looked like in real time but maybe next time. I also
want to see if there was a noticeable increase in my internet usage.
The only real reason I tried the livestream thing, other than
curiosity, was to record my gameplay, but I also think the Nvidia
thing allows for straight up recording, so I might try that as well.
And, there is an instant replay feature, which might be the best
option for getting little clips here and there. I'll experiment.
Tonight I watched Justice League, which I liked (even if it
was obviously directed by a man with all of the unnecessary shots of
Gal Gadot's butt and the Amazon's outfits), and I rang in the new
year by listening to my grandfather's grandfather clock chime while
looking at Harry Potter memes. I could think of worse ways to spend
a night.
Right now it is after 2:00AM and I already like the way '2018' looks
in the bottom right corner of my computer screen. It's weird that
it's already 2018, because 2017 seems like it was barely even here,
but just based on the look of the number, 2018 is better. I'm not
looking forward to 2019. I think that looks even worse that 2017.
Anyway, a new year has begun, let's see what happens.
