Today disappeared. I slept in and then spent my morning watching
YouTube videos and playing games I haven't played in forever. I
started with Hearthstone, which I had to reinstall. I was
never good at the game but I think I became competent. I lost all of
that. It was awful. I completely lost any ability to play
strategically. I want to get back into it, though, because it's a
fun passive game. I also had to reinstall Cube World, which
is a game I got sucked into at least a few years ago, maybe more.
Around the time I stopped playing there was a lot of talk about how
the development for the game had died, even though it was still in
alpha. That seems to still be the case, which is unfortunate,
because there is a lot of potential. And I played Trove,
which is a game I want to like but I was still as lost and confused
as I was the last time I played, and the time before that.
I watched part of a CoD: WW2 tournament this afternoon. They
were playing on console, so I couldn't come close to competing, but
comparing some of the games to my ability on PC, I feel like I could
hold my own. I also doubt that at the same time. I feel like it is
the same as when you see a really good guitarist play a song. They
make it look so easy but that doesn't mean you can play the song.
After dinner I watched more YouTube videos and livestreams, ran on
the elliptical, took a shower, and eventually got around to playing
CoD: WW2. My major accomplishment was finally getting one
hundred one-shot kills with the first sniper rifle. Now I just have
the remaining camos to unlock before I get diamond camo for all of my
sniper rifles. It involves at least 100 more kills (fifty in the
Mountain division and fifty not in the mountain division) and I'm
hoping I can complete the other camos while getting those kills. I
might continue using hardcore but we'll see.
Tomorrow I want to be productive. I'm definitely going to do laundry
but it would also be nice if I took down my Christmas stuff, did the
dishes, made a loaf of bread, and worked on a short story (because I
want to write one a month and haven't started one this month yet).
I'm going to consider it a victory if I finish my laundry, so I'm
going to set the bar pretty low.
