I am exhausted. And I have a pretty big headache. I want to go to
bed.
Today was a long day. I got up around 7:30AM, ironed my pants for
the week, got ready, ate breakfast, and then went to pick up my
sister (getting gas on the way) so we could head out.
The trip to our aunt's house was thankfully uneventful and we made
good time getting there. When we arrived, our aunt was at a hair
appointment so we sat and talked with our grandma for awhile. After
our aunt arrived she popped lunch in the oven (Papa Murphy's) and we
went down to the basement to get an overview of what we were dealing
with in terms of the bookcases and books.
After lunch we went back down to the basement to start sorting
through books and emptying shelves. That was a project that took
several hours. Everyone else showed up around 2:30PM and that is
when my brother and I started taking the bookcases upstairs as we
were able to empty them. In the end I got eight bookcases, the
pieces for a barrister bookcase, and eighty books. I'm a sucker for
free books.
My brother and I loaded all the bookcases onto the trailer and he and
my Dad got them secured into place. We stopped a couple times on the
way home just to re-secure things and make sure nothing was moving.
My sister and I loaded up my car with the barrister bookcase pieces
and all the books we picked out. And then, a little after six
o'clock, we headed home.
On the way home I got up to 37.2 miles per gallon, which seems pretty
good to me. I can't remember the highest I've seen it but that has
to be close. Also, we passed a car while in the right-hand lane,
that was in the left-hand lane, coming toward us, on a divided
highway. It was a little terrifying. They had to have been an
idiot, which I'm thankful fore because they could have done some
serious damage if they were doing it on purpose. The only way they
could have gotten on that side of the road, without driving through
the ditch, was by coming down an off ramp, ignoring the two Do Not
Enter signs, and the fact that all the other signs were facing away
from them. By the time we passed them they were quite far from that
off ramp. It got the adrenaline flowing. My Dad had to make a stop
so he was pretty far behind us and when we talked to him later he
said he hadn't seen a car or an accident, but there was a cop in the
general area sitting in the median with the lights going. That
couldn't have been a coincidence.
When we got back to town I dropped my sister off so she could let her
dogs out. When I got home I ate some pitas and hummus until my
sister came over and then we started unloading my car. Not too long
after that my Dad arrived with the bookcases. My brother and I got
them unloaded and for the time being they are going to sit in my
garage. I want to clean them all off and figure out where I want to
put them. There are three different types so that will be the main
choice to make. I should be able to wrestle them inside by myself
once I get that all sorted out.
After all that was done I was finally able to sit down and eat my
stir fry leftovers. At 9:45PM. It was a late dinner but it was also
delicious.
Now it is 11:13PM and I have to wake up at six o'clock tomorrow
morning so I am going to wrap this up so hopefully I can record a
quick audio journal and then go to sleep. My fingers are crossed
that I can sleep off this massive headache. And that my body isn't
completely broken in the morning.
