This morning I woke up and read in bed. I like that with my
queen-size bed I am able to sleep with books in my bed. The last two
days I also had my Bluetooth speaker next to my pillow. It's pretty
convenient. Anyway, this morning I finished reading Every Heart A
Doorway by Seanan McGuire. I liked it. It got pretty dark,
which I wasn't necessarily a fan of, but it was an interesting story.
It is apparently going to be a trilogy and the next book comes out
in June, which I have already put on hold. One of my favorite things
about the book is that it is so short. I was able to read it fairly
quickly and it is nice to finally finish a book that I have checked
out.
After
I finished the book I ironed my pants for the coming week, ran on the
elliptical for a little bit, and then took a shower. While I ate
lunch I watched Miss
Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.
Every
Heart A Doorway kind
of reminded me of Miss Peregrine's Home For
Peculiar Children, probably
because of the group home for kids thing. I hadn't seen the movie
yet and it was pretty good. It has been awhile since I've read the
book and I feel like the ending went farther than they did in the
first book. I've only read the first book and the last thing I
remember is Miss Peregrine being taken and the kids setting out in
the boat. But again, it's been years since I read the book so I
could be wrong. I do want to read the other books, so maybe that
will happen soon.
When
the movie was over I ran over to my Mom's house because my ceiling
mount for my projector came in the mail today. When I got home got
that all set up. It took awhile but I got it done and it hasn't
fallen down yet, so I'll take that as a success. Now I just need to
sort out the cable management thing. For the HDMI cable I thought
about putting an HDMI outlet for the wall and running the cables from
the projector down behind the wall. I'm not sure how I will get them
over to the wall yet. And the power cable is too short at the
moment, so I need to look into a longer one. Or coming up with a way
to plug it in up in the ceiling. Things to think about.
Once I
got the projector set up I played Little Nightmares for
a little bit before going upstairs to make dinner. Tonight I made
baked spinach and egg flatbread with roasted asparagus and lemon
aioli. Fancy stuff. I was glad I had a food processor for the
spinach because that would have taken forever to chop up. I decided
to roast the roast the asparagus instead of saute it like the recipe
said because roasted asparagus tastes better and I didn't want to
deal with the oily mess that sauteing makes. And in the end I would
say it all turned out pretty well. I cooked the egg a little longer
so it came out more like a hard boiled egg than an over easy egg.
Taste-wise, I think the asparagus with lemon aioli was the best part.
The spinach and egg flatbread was alright but not as tasty as I
thought it would be. I noticed the heat from the red chili flakes
but other than that it seemed fairly bland, which was surprising
considering all the stuff I put in it.
While
I ate dinner I watched YouTube videos and eventually went back
downstairs. I had planned on playing Tales From The
Borderlands but it kept crashing
on the title screen. It allowed me to hit a button to continue from
the title screen but right after it said checking for DLC it would
crash. Who knows. Maybe it's a Windows 10 thing. I'll have to try
it on my desktop and hope it works. Instead I played Little
Nightmares. I played longer
than I had planned on playing but it felt like I was near the end so
I kept going. And I was able to finish it. It got super creepy near
the end. I also have no idea what was really going on during the
game. Like who my character was or why the creepy things were after
me.
And
now it is after midnight and I still need to record my audio journal.
I checked after finishing Little Nightmares and
I open tomorrow, so it is going to be a long day, filled with
yawning. Can't wait.
