Today was a pretty good day. I woke up after a full night of sleep
and made scrambled eggs for breakfast. Throughout the day I watched
YouTube videos and played video games. I tried out DiRT Rally
and it is very much a racing simulator. It is a game that would be
fun to get really good at but that is never going to happen. I would
like to continue playing it, so we'll see how it goes. I also played
a few hours of Burnout Paradise. That is more of an arcade
racing game, which is fun because you get to drive super fast and do
ridiculous stuff. Jumping back into it, I was reminded of my
frustration from the last time I played it. Most of the races are
going from point A to point B, which is cool, but there is no set
path to take and you can't see the whole race on the mini-map so you
can't really plan a route. You just head in the general direction of
the finish line and hope you don't take a road that ends up taking
you in the opposite direction of the checkpoint. I seem to end up on
those roads a lot. This really forces you to memorize the entire
map, something that is hard to do because instead of just watching
the road you're constantly having to look at the mini-map and hope
you're still going the right way. It's a little frustrating. It's
also disappointing that they made is more of a straight-up racing
game compared to earlier games in the franchise. And, I played a
little bit of Gat Out Of Hell. Flying around is still fun.
I spent a decent amount of time cleaning my house a bit. I mostly
focused on my desk and the banister. Both are places where things
tend to get stacked. I also picked up my office as a whole and the
corner in the kitchen where things like all the grocery store ads I
get in the mail tend to get stacked. The main impetus for this
cleaning was needing to make room for bookcases. I think I'm getting
eight and, I think, I know where they will go. Two in the living
room, two in my office, and four in my bedroom. It works in my head
so we'll see what reality has to say about that.
This evening I made my Green Apron box for dinner. That being the
meal my coworkers got me for my birthday, packaging all the
ingredients so I just had to mix it together and didn't have to worry
about measuring or making sure I had all the ingredients. It was a
summer vegetable stir fry and it was really freaking good. It had
carrots, red onion, and asparagus, so that was really simple. And
the sauce consisted of soy sauce, corn starch, honey, red pepper
flakes, garlic, and fresh ginger (which I had to grate). I never
would have even thought to combine all of that but it really worked
out well. I especially liked the red pepper flakes because it added
a bit of subtle heat to the whole thing. Also, fresh ginger smells
really good. It kind of reminded me of Pine-Sol, which I haven't
smelled since I was a little kid, so I could be wrong about that.
Either way, it was delicious.
I spent the rest of my night watching YouTube videos and playing
video games. Good times.
And it is now that time where I record my audio journal (hopefully on
the first try) and then I go to bed. I might iron my pants for the
week before I go to bed, but we'll see, I'm not committed to the idea
yet.
