This morning I woke up without a problem. It helped that I put my
alarm clock far enough away that I actually had to get out of bed to
turn it off. After brushing my teeth and making my lunch I packed up
and head to the old house to take a shower. And then I went to work
I was completely screwed up by not working yesterday. It was almost
lunch before I remembered it was Tuesday. This explained why I
didn't have any classes in the lab this morning. I became curious
but not enough to remember what day it was. I filled my time going
through and deleted old emails. Since the end of last year I had
accumulated over 300 emails somehow. That is a tad much. When doing
this I came across a Lexile color chart that the librarian sent out
awhile ago to let teachers know what color of dot on the book
corresponds with which lexile score. It was a basic list made in
Excel and I had nothing better to do so I decided to make it look
better. I think I succeeded and the librarian liked it so my morning
was kind of productive.
Also in the morning, and throughout the afternoon when I didn't have
classes in the lab, I started making my MAP lab schedule with the
testing times added in. I think I'm down to one teacher needing to
sign up. And two teachers need to return their seating charts. I
handed out blank ones and I have the teachers fill them out because I
figure they have a better idea of who they don't want sitting by each
other. I normally don't do anything with the charts once I get them
in terms of tweaking them but today, due to boredom, I decided to
type them up. And I think they will look a lot nicer and be easier
to read.
After work I stopped by Target before heading home. For awhile after
getting home I read but then my sister came over and we got started
hanging curtains. In about three and a half hours we got four
windows covered. Which is actually pretty decent. A lot of the time
was spent measuring and coming up with guides made out of a dog
biscuit box. I decided that I could figure out the right measurement
for hanging the curtains instead of doing it for each side of each
window. I cut and L-shape out of the dog biscuit box with the inside
corner resting on the window frame. Then I made the holes where I
wanted the drill holes for the bracket. This way I could do once
side and flip the guide over to do the other side, guaranteeing both
sides would come out even.
For three of the windows I was able to use the same guide because the
goal was to have the curtain rod level with the top of the window
frame. For the fourth window, the big one in the living room, we
needed to go above the frame because it needed a middle support
bracket and that wouldn't have worked on the frame. So I made a new
L-Shaped guide for brackets above the frame, and then spent awhile
figuring out the exact center of the window so I could get the center
bracket perfectly in the middle. Dead-center ended up being 52 5/8”.
And I think I nailed it because it looked pretty much perfect to me.
After getting the big curtain up I called it a night because it was
after nine o'clock and I still hadn't eaten dinner yet. Before my
sister left she helped me get the dogs in their room downstairs
(where they are going to stay when no one is home) and that ended up
being pretty easy. Then I ate the last of my cheese pizza for a
really late dinner before heading back to the old house so I could
write this. I also needed to pick up my shower stuff because the gas
company guy came back and fixed the issue so we have hot water now.
Apparently after he came out the builder was supposed to send a guy
to turn stuff on in the house. We weren't aware of that and
apparently the builder wasn't either. Either way, hot water. So I
should be able to take a shower there tomorrow morning. Progress.
