I started my workday once again locked out of the lab. It was more
annoying after I went and got a key and got into the lab, only to
find out one of the math enrichment teachers was in the office on the
other side of the lab. She had to use her key to get into the lab
but didn't unlock either door after she got in. Nice. I want to ask
the principal if maybe we can get a fake rock to put outside of the
lab and hide a key in it. This year I think I've already been locked
out more than I was in the previous two years combined. It's getting
old.
There weren't any scheduled MAP tests today but I did have a few
second graders finish tests during the regular lab time and a fourth
grader come in on his own. I used that time to stand in the back of
the lab and read one of the articles about library design for my
assignment. I wasn't able to finish it because it is kind of long
but it did save me some time and made the testing go by a little
faster.
I updated my testing spreadsheets a little bit but spent most of my
day working on the bingo thing for the resource teacher. She came
down to the lab to tell me she liked the test one and then told me
what she wanted the final boards to look like. It's a bit of a
process going through and cutting out each picture in Gimp and saving
them without a background so I don't have to worry about them messing
with the borders I made. But, MAP testing is almost over so I'll
need projects to fill all my free time, so tedious is good.
At the end of the day I went and talked to the school librarian to
see if she knew who I could email for my interview assignment. She
gave me the name of a middle school librarian and one that works at
the university library. I plan on emailing both of them and if I get
lucky enough to get responses from both, I'll use whichever one gives
me the best answers. I'm interested in what both of them have to say
so hopefully they both respond.
After work I stopped by the old house before going to the new house
for dinner. While I ate I watched a few episode of Big Bang
Theory. In the episode from the
first season when Leonard's mom visits, she mentions my grandpa's
theory when she is talking to Penny. I don't think I ever noticed
that before, so that is pretty cool.
I spent the rest of my night here,
at the old house. I finished reading the library design articles and
wrote the bibliographies for them. That just leaves the annotations
for each, which will be the hard part. I'm not a fan of summarizing
things. Writing abstracts back in college was the worst and this is
kind of the same thing. But hopefully it will be easier. I'll
probably end up having to reread the articles at least once before I
can write anything coherent.
Tomorrow my plan is to finish
reading the two chapters for this week's research discussion and
rewatch the video lecture. And then write my discussion post. If I
end up being really productive there is a chance I can also write my
annotations tomorrow but I'm not very confident that will happen.
The plan is to save the annotations for Sunday. One thing that I
have completely neglected is the reflective journal. It is going to
become very obvious that I am way behind when I send the first one to
the professor for him to look over. Maybe I should include the
annotations tomorrow and work on the reflective journal tomorrow. I
should be on my third one and I haven't even written the first.
