This morning I woke up at eight o'clock. I kind of woke up a few
times before that but my alarm was set for eight o'clock so I just
rolled back over. It was nice. When I finally got up I played
Terraria for awhile before getting ready, eating lunch, and
going to work. I like when I get to bed early enough the night
before a closing shift that I can actually experience the morning
before a closing shift. It's nicer than waking up with just enough
time to get ready and eat lunch. I need to remember this when I slip
back into the habit of staying up late and sleeping in.
Most of the first two hours of work was spent getting ready for my
brief talk at the youth services department meeting. I learned when
I got to work that I probably wouldn't have much success mirroring my
phone on the big TV in the boardroom. My original solution was to
just use a laptop. In my help ticket the IT guy suggested using our
iPad but we were having a tech class at the same time as the meeting
and it was over iPads, so that wasn't going to work. But then I
remembered that youth services has a couple so I went down there to
borrow one. After coming back upstairs I realized I needed to
download an app and didn't know the password to do that, so I went
back downstairs. The teen librarian got it for me and while I was
there I ended up taking a call for our next adulting class, because
the teen librarian wasn't feeling well, and then I covered the
childrens desk for a bit, because the teen librarian wasn't feeling
well. Thankfully the childrens room is quiet over the lunch hour so
I didn't have to answer any questions.
When I got to the boardroom for the meeting we sat and talked while
we waited for everyone to show up. Youth Services meetings seem to
be a little more laid back than ours. Or maybe they're just more
prone to tangents and sidebars. I don't know. I'm not saying ours
are uptight but there is a different vibe to both. I'm not entirely
sure how helpful my information was because they had all used either
one or both of the services I talked about, but I think there were a
few things in there that they found useful.
The rest of the day is kind of a blur. I talked with my boss and
fellow librarians about various things throughout the day. I
probably did some things as well. I do know that tonight I started
working on my newspaper article. Based on the work count I'm about
halfway done but I still need to figure out the rest of it and then
go through and do some major edits. I've got a week left so I'm
feeling good about it.
When I got home I ate pretzels and watched YouTube videos. And now
I'm going to record my audio journal because I'm yawning and want to
go to bed.
