September 20, 2017

Today was a good candidate for taking notes because it was kind of an odd day. So of course I didn't take notes.

When I got to work I was on desk for two hours. I do not recall what I accomplished in those two hours. It's a total blank. When I was off desk I did a walkthrough and then I went upstairs to talk to the PR lady about the faire on Saturday so we could sort out all of the details. I'm feeling better about it. I'm still looking forward to it all being over. After that conversations I called my homebound patrons before heading downstairs.

After lunch we went out for homebound. Our first stop was actually a movie theater to pick up a gift card. It was the first time I've been in the new theater and it is huge. It also smelled like popcorn and was covered in neon lights, so I was instantly not a fan. Flashbacks to unhappier times. At some point I'll need to go see a movie there. But not any time soon because I'm not a fan of spending money on movies. They're very overpriced in my opinion.

We then delivered all our books and went back to the library. When I got back to the desk I threw together a tutorial for making the telephone wire bracelet. I remember now that one thing I did this morning was start a new bracelet, taking pictures of it at the various stages, so that I could make the tutorial. I think it turned out pretty well, I managed to squeeze it onto a half sheet of paper, and I only have a could things I want to change. The idea is that we can print them out and take them to the faire so people can take it home and finish the bracelet. I don't know if we'll end up printing it out because there will potentially be hundreds of people stopping by, but we'll see.

Right after I finished the first draft of the instructions I went on a walkthrough and ran into one of the youth services people who will be at the faire. I tried to show her how to make the bracelet the other day but ran out of time because I had to set up for my program. I went up and grabbed a copy of the instructions and some wire because she had time and I figured it would be a good test of the instructions. She kind of jumped the gun a little bit and ended up with an entirely different version of the bracelet. I left the instructions and some wire in case she wanted to try again but then I had to leave because it was time for me to go home.

Before I left the teen librarian gave me a whole bunch of wire that the tech center people had brought over to the childrens people. This morning one of the other librarians and I had start to untwist the wire. It isn't twisted pair wire but the wire is lightly twisted in pairs. I thought it would make things much easier on Saturday if we untwisted all of the pairs. We started this process but our boss hinted that it wasn't the best use of our time so we took a bunch of it down so the people working in the tech center could work on it. But when they finished with what we gave them they took it over to the childrens department because I guess they thought that's where it came from. The timing worked out though with me being down there and the teen librarian passing by. I ended up taking some of the wire home to untwist it and one of the other librarians did as well. We will hide the fact that we did this so we don't get in trouble for working outside of work but we wanted to make sure it gets done before Saturday.

After work I picked up Qdoba. It was actually edible tonight, so that is a vast improvement over last week. When we were done eating we watched YouTube videos and then I reset my Mom's sprinkler system. I think I did it right but I have thought that in the past so we'll see.

When I got home I watched YouTube videos and untwisted wire. It didn't take very long, and it is one less thing to worry about. I then watched more videos and clicked around the internet for awhile before writing this. It has taken me too long to write this and I am going to miss my eleven o'clock bedtime again. I'm failing this week.
