Today started with a big downer. My Mom had Remi put to sleep this
morning. He had recently been losing weight and my Mom noticed that
he had pretty much stopped eating and drinking. She took him to the
vet last week and found out he had kidney disease. He ended up
having to stay for a couple days and get fluids and potassium because
he was really dehydrated. He got better the first day there, then
took a turn and had to stay an extra day. After coming home he
didn't really get any better. He still wasn't eating and my Mom said
it was like he had forgotten how to drink. He would either put his
face near the water and kind of take a lick or he would completely
put his face in the water and not drink. Throughout the night last
night he walked around crying and going to the bathroom in his bed.
And this morning my Mom made the decision to have him put to sleep.
She texted my sister and I that it was going to happen, which was
sad, but it wasn't depressing until later when she said “He's gone.
Just got home. They do a private cremation then I'll pick up his
ashes next week. Chose a little cedar box.” That made me cry.
And made me tear up writing that down. It really sucks. He was a
cool cat.
Later on in the day I went over to my Mom's to do laundry. While
that was happening I watched movies and played Animal Crossing.
There was a fishing tournament in Animal Crossing today so I
spent my time fishing. I missed the ceremony so I don't know if I
won but I'll find out tomorrow if I remember to look. I was also
able to catch a bunch of other expensive fish, sell them, pay off my
last home improvement loan, and take out another one that will
apparently give me extra storage.
As for the movies, I watched Speed Racer which I had
completely forgotten was a thing. It was live action but the
majority of it was just bad CGI. It was interesting. Then I watched
Gods of Egypt. Wow. I had never heard of it before and my
life is no better now that I have seen it. I don't even know how to
describe it. One of the librarians I work with described it as an
attempt to make a superhero movie out of Egyptian lore. That sounds
pretty accurate. There might have been another movie but I can't
remember.
I had to leave my sheets going in the dryer so I could go home and
drop my other clothes off before heading out to my coworkers house.
I had a movie and pizza night with two of the librarians I work with.
We watched Easy A and it was as funny as I remember. I
really like the witty dialogue, and Stanley Tucci and Patricia
Clarkson are great as the parents. After the movie we sat around and
talked for awhile before calling it a night around nine o'clock.
When I got home I had a bowl of cereal because that's my thing now.
I also watched Kong: Skull Island. I don't know if sequels
are planned but after the credits it leaves it open to sequels, which
I would definitely watch. I liked the movie. The action was good
and John C. Reilly brought some much needed comic relief. I also
thought it was interesting that they set it in the Vietnam War era.
Now it is after one o'clock in the morning because I have been
watching YouTube videos while I write this and it has been incredibly
distracting. But now I'm done.
But one more thing. Yesterday it was smoky as hell. Today it was
much better. That is all.
