April 1, 2017

I slept in this morning and as always, it was fantastic.

I spent the first part of my day researching new computer stuff. I built one using PCPartPicker and then tried to recreate it on CyberPower. Then I picked out all the pieces individually and compiled them in an Amazon list and compared that total to the total of the CyberPower build. I knew it would be cheaper but I wanted to see how much. It was a decent amount. Enough that the incentive is there to buy the parts individually. Also, by doing it that way I would get the specific parts I want, like the right version of the GPU, RAM, and hard drives. I don't think I'll end up actually getting a new computer but it is still fun virtually building one.

This afternoon I went to my Mom's to do laundry. I had planned on reading while the laundry was going but I ended up jumping back into Animal Crossing for the first time in quite awhile. I fished and picked a lot of fruit. I forgot how easily it can suck you in and steal time. Good times.

When I got home I ate dinner and spent the rest of the night watching the second season of Black Lagoon. I liked it. It was filled with tragedy. The twins in particular but also the girl who inherited her position. I could have used a little more comic relief. But it was still good.

While I watched the show I also played a little Letter Quest. It is kind of hard to play a word game late at night. But I did alright. Some of the best words I came up with were: fatigue, chorals, and demonic.

I took a brief break in the show and the game to try a balance test. I read about it in an article about my people feel the urge to jump when they are in a high place, even though they aren't suicidal. One of the researchers who studies it came up with a short balance experiment and found that people who were more afraid of heights were not able to balance as long. The test is to stand with your eyes closed, heel to toe with your left foot in front of the right, and your arms crossed over your chest. The average time in the experiment was 40 seconds, which is about what I got on my first attempt. Then I got several times that were much shorter than that. It can be really tricky. I eventually got in the zone and my it 6 minutes and 48 seconds. I was pretty proud of that. It's also a pretty decent leg workout.

Right now I'm back to watching the giant YouTube playlist I found that is made up of a lot of the songs I listened to in high school and college. Oh, nostalgia. It would be nice if XM had a station like this. Or not, because I would probably never get out of my car.

Tomorrow I plan on waking up early so that I can fall asleep tomorrow night. Let us hope I can respect my alarm clock.
