April 17, 2017

This morning I woke up, ironed my pants for the week, got ready, called the eye doctor, made my lunch, and ate breakfast. I was able to schedule an eye appointment tomorrow morning and I am hoping good things come from it. I'm kind of tired of whatever is happening with my eye. I'll be seeing a new doctor because apparently mine retired. As long as the new doctor is competent, I'm okay with it.

At work today my main goal was to work on homebound stuff, and I accomplished that goal. I was able to pull books for all but one of my patrons, that one being the one I have to pull old books for. I was also able to process all of the books, update the spreadsheets, and make/print/cut all of the bookmarks. So the majority of the work is done. I'm feeling good about that.

When I wasn't doing all that stuff, I came close to finishing a webinar write-up, restocked my DVD display, helped patrons, and read a bit of a Library Journal. And I think that was it. At least all that I can remember given my current tiredness and headache.

Over lunch I got an email with a Steam Guard code because apparently someone had logged into my account from a new location. I am often annoyed when my own computers are considered a new location even when I had just been logged in. Today, however, I appreciated it. It turns out I had not flown to Vietnam over my lunch break and tried to log into my Steam account. So it appears Steam Guard saved my butt. Whoever in Vietnam wasn't able to get into my Steam account and I was able to change my password without any issue. Thankfully my Steam and email passwords were different.

After work I went to my Mom's house for a belated Easter dinner. Dinner was good and afterward we sat around at the table watching TV and talking about all the random things. Always good times. Also, my mom got me an Easter card that has two kids with Easter baskets on the front standout in front of an outhouse. The boy is saying “Gee, I'm pretty sure Mom said to hunt for eggs at the Schmidt house!”, and on the inside it says “Hope your Easter is a Schmidtload of fun!” It's hilarious.

When I got home I was going to recover the files from my old hard drive and put them onto my new hard drive. I even bought the real version of MiniTool Power Data Recovery so I could recover everything. But now my new drive is missing. It was there yesterday and then when I woke my computer up tonight it was gone. What the hell? I don't know if it is worth messing with it more or if I should just send it back and try again. I don't want to get everything moved over to it and then have it crap out again because then I won't want to send it back with all my crap still on it. Good freaking grief.

It's now creeping up on midnight and I need to record my audio journal, so I'm going to do that, with my eyes closed, just like how I'm typing this, and then I'm going to go to bed. I am hoping I don't wake up with a headache. And that the eye doctor has an easy solution to whatever is happening with my eye. Let's cross our fingers that the eye and the headache right behind it aren't signs of some sort of horrible disease. I'm a fan of my depth perception, it's pretty sweet, so if I could keep both of my eyes that would be great.
