August 25, 2016

This morning I slept in and it was fantastic. And then I went to work.

My morning plans at the desk got a little sidetracked by a chat question I inherited from the librarian on the desk before me who had to go to lunch. We believe the person in the chat was a librarian from a small town that is part of our library system. A police officer in her town was interested in books on psychology and human behavior and they didn't have any so she contacted us. The chat itself went on for about an hour and I ended up spending quite a bit of time looking for books. I not only looked through the catalog but when I was off the desk I went into the stacks and just browsed, which led to several more books added to my list. I sent her the list after I got back from dinner so hopefully we'll hear back from her and find out if I was in the ballpark or if she needs me to keep looking.

I nearly finished my outline for the first tech class. I still need to come up with the handout for it, which hopefully I can start/finish tomorrow. My goal was to have that and the outline and handout for my digitizing class done by the end of the week. That could still be a thing if I work on the digitizing one this weekend but I don't work this weekend and we aren't supposed to work on things outside of work. I also don't know that I would have the motivation for that. We'll see.

I got a prank call tonight from a teenager and it was pretty great. When we answer the phone all say a variation on the same thing that lets people know they have called the library. After I said my thing there was pause and then...

          Kid: Is this Taco Bell?
          Me: Nope.
Kid: ...Ah man, she must have given me the wrong number to Taco Bell.
Me: It appear so. Do you want the real number to Taco Bell?
          Kid: ...Uhhh, I guess.
Me: Which side of town do you want?
          Kid: ...Uhhh, the west one?
Me: Alright, you ready for it?
          Kid: ...[click]

So he hung up on me. It seems that it wasn't the most thought out prank call. And that he wasn't actually expecting me to be helpful. I found it pretty entertaining.

Tomorrow instead of closing I go in at nine o'clock. It feels like I have always closed on Friday, unless I had it off because I was working on the weekend. And I say always but I have only been working my current schedule for a couple weeks. So yeah. My feelings aren't based in a lot of precedence at the moment.

Now I'm going to go to bed beause it is late and I have to wake up in the morning.
