This morning my alarm went off at
six o'clock but I didn't actually get out of bed until seven o'clock.
I was still productive, though, managing to get through the first
set of assessment data with time to spare. I could have started on
the second set, and probably should have, but I didn't. Instead, I
ironed my clothes for today and searched for the plastic folders I
used to make lamps many years ago. It would only make sense for it
to be with my craft stuff but I can't find it anywhere. It's
becoming a bit frustrating.
At work today I did things. I
finished making my book lists for my homebound patrons. Last month I
started including at least one extra book on each list in case
something ended up being checked out. I can also carry that extra
book over to the next month, which gives me a little bit of a jump
start because I don't have to start with nothing. I think it is a
good system.
I helped patrons with computer and
printer things. I'm getting pretty decent at that. I updated all of
tech classes on the calendar so they have the right phrase in the
title so they'll show up on our tech page, and I made them all
require a reservation so we know how many people to expect. I still
need to come up with one class for October and fill in details about
the classes in November, but I'm making progress. I imagine this
weekend will be filled with a lot of research for classes because I
don't have much else going on.
Tonight I talked with the newest
assistant about my trip to the conference and my free day spent at
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
He's never read the books (which doesn't make sense when people say
that) but he has seen all the movies and really enjoys them. He was
very envious of my trip.
I slacked a little bit when I got
home and have only managed to grade seventeen responses in the second
set of assessment data. That leaves me with between an hour and an
hour and a half of grading left. I would like to finish that tonight
but I'm also feeling a tad tired. So we'll see. I will have time to
do it in the morning, unfortunately.
And I say unfortunately because I
should be playing No Man's Sky at
midnight and then all day tomorrow. When games come out they are
supposed to be released at midnight. For digital games, especially
on PC, you're also supposed to be able to preload the game a day or
two in advance so that when it is officially released at midnight,
you can start playing it almost immediately. This is not the case
with No Man's Sky,
however. The game doesn't actually release until noon tomorrow and
as far as I've seen, you can't actually preload the game. This means
that thousands of people are all going to try and download the game
at the exact same time tomorrow, rather than spreading that out over
a one or two day period. Doesn't seem too smart. And it means I
won't actually get to play the game at noon because I will have to
wait way too long for the download to finish. I also have to keep my
fingers crossed that most of the neighborhood is offline and not
streaming or downloading massive files. But, despite all that
bitching, the game is finally here and I will get to play it at some
point tomorrow. Hopefully. I've been waiting for nearly three years
so a few more hours isn't going to kill me.
Now I'm going to grade some more
assessment responses. Maybe all of them. Or maybe just some. And
then go to bed.
