This morning I slept in until seven o'clock due to the late evening
and then got ready like normal. But instead of walking out the door
after making my lunch and eating breakfast, I went back downstairs
and got on the computer to get ready for the group presentation. I
was able to double check my webcam and microphone, and read through
my script a few more times before joining the meeting.
When I first joined my webcam wouldn't connect but I quickly figured
out it was because I had OBS open (to check my webcam) and it wasn't
allowing Zoom to use the webcam. After closing OBS all was good.
There was another non-group member classmate in the chat and when my
camera came on she said she liked my background, which is just stacks
of books because I don't have the shelf space for them. Then when
the professor came in she said she liked it to and asked if they were
real or if it was an art piece. I told her they were real and that
if they fell on me she needed to call someone.
We had a couple minutes before we started so I did a quick check to
make sure I could get the PowerPoint showing. When I first shared my
screen they saw the presentation viewer not the actually
presentation. I closed it and switched it to show the presentation
on my primary browser and that seemed to work.
I think all three group members ahead of me ran over their five
minutes I could see both the clock and the time in the presentation
viewer which got me more focused on making my part not go over. As
per usual, when I started talking I completely zoned out and didn't
come to until after I stopped talking. I think we may have ended up
a couple minutes over, which means I probably went really fast. It
kind of felt fast when I was doing it but I was just focused on
making up for the lost time. Oh well. The professor said it was a
good presentation and she recorded it, so I don't know if we'll see
it in the future or if it was just for grading purposes. She ducked
out after and our group stayed for a couple minutes just to clarify
wrapping everything up. I turned in the presentation right afterward
and now I'm also responsible for turning in the paper. I need to
read back over it before that happens but I think I might add in some
of the stuff I came up with for the slideshow because I think it was
pretty good and it would expand on the table a little more than I did
in my short paragraph.
The presentation event as a whole went a lot faster than I thought it
would and I was able to get to work by ten o'clock. I only missed
about ten or fifteen minutes of the first class in the lab, so not
bad. With the time I had before lunch I went through and downloaded
the MAP reports for the classes that had completely finished with
both tests. I can't remember but I'd say about half of the classes,
maybe a little more, are completely done. I need to start printing
off the ones I downloaded, which can probably begin tomorrow. Right
now the color printer is running extremely low on three colors so I'm
interested to see how long it lasts.
On the job search front, I emailed the one professor I've had for
several classes and used as a reference for a scholarship, and asked
if I could put her down as a reference for the public library job. I
sent her the job description and she said she would be happy to be a
reference. I a sent the job description in the first message and my
resume along with the second one but she wanted to see it. I'm all
about getting feedback on it at the moment so I told her if she saw
anything that could be changed to let me know.
This afternoon the sixth graders came in to test after lunch, then I
had a bit of a break before a couple fifth graders came in to finish
testing, then a tiny break before both kindergarten classes came in
back-to-back, and then no break before the sixth graders came back in
to test, which lasted until the end of the day. So the afternoon
went by pretty fast.
When I got home I didn't really do anything. I called the campus
bookstore to get my graduation stuff mailed to me. I meant to call
this morning after the presentation but it completely slipped my
mind. Now it won't get here until Monday but that's not too bad.
After dinner my sister stopped by to drop of treats she made for the
teacher lunch tomorrow at work and stayed for awhile to watch the
broadcast of the wrestling match she went to the other day. The
camera never really had a close up of the area where she was sitting
but I'll still believe that she went. I haven't watched a whole
episode of wrestling in many many years but it is still pretty
entertaining.
And nothing was accomplished the rest of the night. Tiredness hit me
all at once and I've been struggling to keep my eyes open for the
past couple of hours. After I finish this I'm going to go to bed.
So let's call this good.
