Good grief. It will soon be
midnight and I need to get to bed.
Today was an early-release day and
there wasn't a lot going on. This morning there were two classes in
the lab and I helped with kindergarten literacy centers. When that
wasn't happening I worked on a card for one of the fifth grade
teachers. She makes a card with her class every year and has me scan
it (and do some photo editing) so she can print out a bunch of
copies. The kids then write in all of them and pass them out to the
teachers and staff. I'm probably over halfway done with the editing.
It would be nice to get it done this week but we'll see.
This afternoon there was more card
editing and I heard back from the professor with her feedback of my
resume. It was exactly the type of feedback I was hoping to get from
the workshop. Even though I didn't get it at the workshop, I got a
lot of other good advice, and it provided the opportunity for me to
email this professor to get her feedback. I made all the changes and
now I feel a lot better about my resume.
Not long after I got the resume
feedback, I got an email from the school job list listserv and it
mentioned the two adult services positions at the public library that
the PR lady has been telling me about. Perfect timing. I emailed
the PR lady and asked her to look over my newly edited resume and got
some feedback from her as well. I have until next Friday to fill out
the application and turn it in along with my resume. It would be
nice to get that done this weekend so I can hand it in on Monday but
I also have to wrap this school semester up this weekend, so I might
not have time. I also need to email one of my professors, who has
been my go-to faculty reference for things, and see if I can put her
down as a reference on my resume.
When I got home from work I did
school stuff. I eventually got an email from the last group member
with his presentation slides and was able to add those in. I also
got an email from another group member who had updated the paper with
an opening and closing, so I reviewed that and changed a couple
things. Then I sent the updated presentation and paper back out to
everyone for them to look over.
I took a break for Chipotle night.
My bowl was good tonight but I probably could have used more rice and
beans. I got screen mirroring to work on my sister's phone so she
was able to show us on the TV all of the pictures she got from the
wrestling event she went to last night with her husband. They didn't
realize it ahead of time but they ended up being in the third or
fourth row from the ring, which would have been really cool. We went
to one when I was really young but I don't really remember anything
from it. And we certainly weren't sitting that close to the action.
I spent the rest of the night
setting up my webcam and microphone for the presentation in the
morning, and working on my script. It took me until almost midnight
but I finally got something I'm happy with. It will come in a little
under four minutes, out of the allotted five minutes per person, but
I'm going last and I'm fairly confident everyone before me will go
long, so I'll probably already be in the hole before I start. It
will be a relief to get past this presentation and get the paper
turned in. Then I can focus on the reflection for my other class.
And then I'll be done. At least with these classes. I still have
plenty of stuff to worry about.
Now it is past my bedtime. I might
“sleep in” until seven o'clock but then I need to get up, take a
shower, and get ready for the presentation at nine o'clock. I'm
interested to see how things go.
