Holy balls. It is late. But I'm going to write this anyway.
This morning I watched Thor.
I enjoyed it and like most movies, it is better watched all the way
through. I had forgotten that Jeremy Renner was in it briefly as
Hawkeye. I was thinking that he was only in The Avengers.
Next I watched Nature
Calls, starring Patton Oswalt
and Johnny Knoxville as brothers with differing views on Boy Scouts.
Oswalt is all about the Scouts and Knoxville is not. Oswalt kidnaps
all the kids from Knoxville's party and takes them camping. It hit a
little close to home because of my Scouting history, and the father
looked a lot like my grandpa. It definitely wasn't a great movie but
I think it was a good commentary on how kids seem to be more
interested in technology and being indoors these days, than they are
about being outside.
The third movie I watched was Timer.
In the movie, people can get a timer implanted in their arms that
counts down when they will meet their soulmate and then beeps when
they make eye contact with the person. There are two grown sisters,
one whose timer won't hit zero until she's in her forties, the other
whose timer hasn't started yet (because her soulmate doesn't have a
timer yet). The first sister has a lot of one-night stands. The
second sister goes on dates only with guys who don't have a timer and
then if things get serious she takes them to get a timer to see if
they are really meant to be. There is also a younger brother who
gets his timer and it immediately displays a countdown of only three
days off, which kind of annoys the sisters. I did like the movie for
the most part but I wasn't too into the ending. Everything wasn't
happy and there were loose ends.
Tonight I went and rented movies.
Mainly because I wanted to watch The Avengers
after seeing Captain America
and Thor. I also got
the first two Hulk
movies because he is currently my favorite super hero. The
Avengers was just as good as I
remembered it. The next one will probably be badass.
Throughout the day, while I was
watching all this stuff, along with some YouTube videos, I worked on
my cross stitch. And I freaking finished it. Finally. At one
o'clock in the morning. It is a pretty simple pattern but good grief
did it take forever. It feels good to be done with it and it doesn't
look half bad if you don't look too closely. Now I will need to look
up how to frame it and make it official looking. Then I can start
work on a new one. Or maybe take a small break. And then start work
on a new one.
