I didn't sleep in too awfully late this morning but I did ignore my
alarm clock for awhile.
With my morning I finished watching Madoka Magica. Originally
I was thinking each disc was a separate season but now I think it is
just one season split across three discs, each in their own case. It
was interesting. I liked the third disc because it introduced the
idea of time travel and a Groundhog Day-like event, where one
of the girls was going back in time, over and over again, trying to
save one of the other girls. I didn't like the first two discs as
much because a big part of it was one of the girls basically
committing suicide because she liked a boy, who she sold her soul for
to make him healthy again, but she wouldn't tell him and her friend
said she liked him and was going to tell him if the girl didn't tell
him how she felt. That's kind of a shitty thing for a friend to do,
obviously, but it is also a shitty reason to go nuts and become a
witch. I don't like in books and movies when people do stupid stuff
for one-sided love. I also liked the concept of the movie but found
it just as confusing as the first season.
When I was done with that I watched Zootopia which I borrowed
from my sister. I enjoyed it. I have now watched two animated
movies with cute bunnies and it kind of makes me want a bunny for a
pet now. I wonder if anyone tracked a spike in bunny pet adoption
following those two movies.
For dinner tonight I made my second boxed meal, brown rice with
roasted vegetables. My greatest achievement was figuring out how to
more easily get thyme off the stem. I had started by going from the
bottom to the top, which just broke the stem and was generally just
frustrating and ineffective. Then I tried going from the top to the
bottom and it was like magic. The leaves popped right off.
Cooking the rice was fairly standard, and I've roasted Brussels
sprouts before so adding a few more vegetables into the mix wasn't
too hard. The only new things were using fresh herbs and making a
sauce, which was a tad hard, just trying to figure out when it had
reduced enough. The real challenge was trying to multitask and keep
track of all three things at once. But I managed and the whole thing
turned out very well.
With the rest of my evening I watched things and playing Farming
Simulator 15. I have put a lot of hours into that game recently
and I am still enjoying it.
