Today went by really fast. Waking up this morning kind of sucked but
I eventually got out of bed, got ready, and went to work.
At work I did things and I was productive but the day kind of felt
like I was just slacking off. I can't even remembered all the little
things I did that added up to a decent amount of work. I do remember
thinking at one point that thinking that I should write things down
so I didn't forget them. Such is life.
I worked on the website, updating the page for the class tonight and
the video game discussion on Thursday. For the video game thing I
also looked up and then went around pulling books to set out. Any
opportunity to increase the chance of someone checking out a book.
One of the books was in the Children's room so I went over there and
got a brief explanation of how the books are laid out. The
non-fiction books are in neighborhoods, which are basically just
subjects or genres, so if you only know the call number for the book,
it won't really help you. The lady working walked me over to the
section I needed and found the book for me. Very helpful.
I also did more research for the video game class, coming up with
some possible discussion questions. I'm still not entirely sure how
it is going to work out. I don't know that leading a discussion will
really be my thing so we'll see. Hopefully I can figure it out. I
would like this to become a recurring event so it would be nice if
the first one goes well.
I played with the Sphero briefly today. I wanted to try out a game
that was supposed to be controlled by holding the Sphero and moving
it around. I could never get the game to recognize the Sphero,
though. And it was a problem with the game because the Sphero worked
just fine with the default app. Kind of disappointing.
I'm fairly certain other things were also done today. Like helping
the occasional patron and answering emails and things of that nature.
Eventually it was time to go home. For dinner I made the last meal I
got in the mail. It was kind of a flatbread pizza, topped with
caramelized onions, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, zucchini, and walnuts
with a fine layer of ricotta mixed with thyme as a base. I knew it
really wasn't going to be my thing and it was a lot of work for an
underwhelming outcome. I had to cut up and caramelize the onions
with oil and balsamic vinegar, peel the zucchini into strips, cut up
the sun-dried tomatoes and olives, mix the ricotta and thyme
together, and then put it all in the oven after assembling it on top
of the flat bread. I also made a salad dressing using Dijon mustard,
olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. That was probably the most
impressive thing. In the end, the flatbread photographed well but it
really wasn't my thing. I don't really like olives but they weren't
too noticeable. My main dislike was the walnuts. They added an
unnecessary texture. Maybe if they were roasted and crunchy but they
managed to still have the regular, walnut consistency. Despite my
underwhelming feelings, I appreciate the experience. I learned how
to do things, I did things, and I learned things I do and don't like.
So it was worth it.
After dinner I watched YouTube videos and played Farming Simulator
15. A fairly typical night as of late. As soon as I finish this
I am going to record my audio journal. It's already coming up on
eleven o'clock so I need to hurry up a little bit. I lost some time
this evening cooking dinner. Hopefully that becomes a normal thing.
It makes eating a little more interesting when I'm not just heating
up frozen food.
