January 2, 2017

Last night I was finally able to pay my mortgage after midnight. I tried to do it throughout the day but the transfer wouldn't go through. It was annoying. But then it eventually went through. At first I was worried that it would technically be a day late but they were apparently on Pacific time, not Central, so that worked in my favor. I'm not sure how I got down to the last day. I thought I only recently got the statement in the mail but I guess not. Regardless, I'm good now.

This morning my alarm went off at six o'clock because I want to get in the habit of getting up at the same time ever day. I didn't get out of bed until much later but at least I kind of got up.

At work today I did things. I pulled books for my resolutions display. I also had the sign printed and it looks even better in person. I got a little over eager when pulling books because I'm trying to cover so many different resolutions and got at least ten more books than I should have. The display is just slightly crowded but hopefully people will start checking things out and thinning it a bit.

At the very end of the day I had time to pull half of the books for the Inspirational display. I should be able to grab the rest of them tomorrow morning and get that set up.

When I went to lunch there were hundreds of birds in the trees outside the library. That might even be an understatement. There were so many freaking birds and they were all chirping and making all the bird sounds at once. It was super loud. And then, as I reached my hand out to open my car, they all went silent at the same time. It was super creepy.

I spoke with a young lady today who was easily the hottest person I have ever seen in real life, and quite possibly hotter than most of the people I have seen in not real life. It was kind of ridiculous. I was doing my walkthrough, she looked slightly lost, and we're supposed to ask if we can help people find something if they look lost. So I did. She wanted to know if we had a biography section, which we do not but there has been talk of it. All the non-fiction books are arranged by Dewey number so the biographies are placed based on the subject area of the person. So if it's about a scientist it would be in the science area and and a musician would be in the music section, so on and so forth. I pointed out the general areas of the different subjects and she still seemed a little lost but she said she would just browse. I'll count that as a partial victory.

I also filled out my monthly report and collected all the statistics stuff I collect each month. Super fun stuff.

I spent a decent amount of time editing the library website today. Several pages have been set up for my classes and I went through today adding in registration links on all the pages, so if someone goes to the page and is interested in the class they can click and go to the registration page.

Speaking of classes, the first class is next week. I don't have to teach it but I do have the video game discussion next week. I'm not really ready for either. I feel kind of bad about the class but I started collecting information today and will work on it more tomorrow. I also need to play through the video game and come up with discussion questions. Right now there are two people signed up, so that's kind of cool. I just hope I can come up with something interesting for them.

Tonight I recorded day two of the audio version of my journal. I also included video by playing Farming Simulator 15 as I talked. I ended up just driving around in a tractor because my crops weren't ready. Near the end my corn field was ready to harvest, and I attempted to harvest it. Turns out I don't have the correct implement to harvest corn. I also doubt I will have the money to buy that implement for awhile. Annoying. Hopefully at least one of my other fields can be harvested by the implement I already have.
