It's after midnight now and I'm tired. Let's get this going.
I slept in this morning and then spent the rest of the morning laying
in bed and reading a book. It was pretty great. After lunch I watch
YouTube videos and probably clicked around the internet. It wasn't
very exciting.
At four o'clock I had my urologist appointment. I got there twenty
minutes early because I figured there might be paperwork and an
x-ray. This ended up being smart. There wasn't a lot of paperwork
but the x-ray did take quite awhile. I don't think it was as bad as
last year but I was able to read several pages in my book and didn't
get back to the urologist's office, which is just across the hall,
until 4:25PM. They were apparently ready for me because I had just
sat down and opened my book again when the nurse came out to get me.
It was worth the wait because my x-ray came back showing clear
kidneys. There may be a single small stone in each, which he thought
he may have also seen last year, but they obviously haven't grown if
they are stones, and not just shadows, and they are in a good spot
that would make them easier to pass. Or as easy as a kidney stone
can be. Because of this we decided to wait two years for my next
appointment rather than one. I am okay with that.
Following my appointment I went to Target because I was looking
through the recipe from the box that I was going to make tonight and
saw that I needed a colander. I did not have one of those. One of
the other recipes needed a whisk so I figured I might as well look
for one of those as well. I was thinking about one of the
collapsible silicone colander but those were expensive and I ended up
getting a set of three metal ones for the same price as one silicone
one. This ended up working out perfectly because I used two of them
while cooking. As for the whisk, I got a silicone one because I
found an inexpensive one and those are supposedly better than the
metal ones if you're using it in a metal bowl or pot.
When I got home, I started making dinner, which was freekeh soup with
kale and sweet potatoes. Freekeh is a grain and seems like something
that could be substituted in recipes that require rice or quinoa.
The hardest part of the recipe was cutting the sweet potato because
apparently I need sharper knives. I started on my glass cutting
board but it made a disconcertingly loud sound every time the knife
slammed down so I switched to the plastic one my sister got me. The
onion was also a little tricky just because it was so small, which
made it hard to cut. In the end I got it all sorted out. And I
think the soup turned out pretty well. It was a little bland but
that may be do to the lack of salt and pepper, which were mentioned a
couple times in the recipe for seasoning. Despite that, however, it
was very edible and now my house smells like a home cooked meal.
After dinner I played Farming Simulator 15 and recorded my
audio journal. When that was finished I continued playing Farming
Simulator 15 and watched The Secret Life of Pets. I
enjoyed it. Kevin Hart was probably my favorite character but Jenny
Slate was a very close second. In my farming adventures I made the
executive decision to destroy the beet crop because I not only needed
to buy a piece of equipment to cut the tops off the beets before they
could be harvested, I also had to buy a piece of equipment to harvest
them, because apparently there isn't a header for that for the
combine. I couldn't even afford the first piece of equipment let
alone the second. So I destroyed the whole crop and planted barley.
Now I am finally able to utilize all three of my fields, which is
great.
Now I'm going to go to bed because I need to wake up sometime
tomorrow morning so I can go do laundry. Hooray for laundry.
