Today was mildly better in terms of productivity. I woke up well
before noon and read a couple textbook chapters. Then I quickly ran
on the elliptical because I got a late invite to go to lunch with my
dad, brother, and sister. That was good times. We had good
conversations, I had a tasty veggie sandwich, and I was able to give
my dad back his bar clamps. On the way home from lunch I stopped and
got my Powerball ticket so I wouldn't have to worry about getting it
before Chipotle.
And it felt like not too long after getting home I needed to head
back out to get Chipotle. It ended up being pretty darn good
tonight. I think it was in the beans. They actually had flavor, and
that seems to be lacking more often than not. Also, even though we
ate right after I got home, I put the burrito in the microwave for
fifteen seconds. I get cheese and the corn salsa, both of which are
kept pretty cold, and that makes the rest of burrito cold. And cold
shredded cheese is kind of gross when it is in a Chipotle burrito.
Much better after fifteen seconds in the microwave.
Tonight the only productive thing I got done was replying to a couple
discussion posts. I also watched some YouTube videos. And the movie
Kingsman, which I have wanted to see since I saw the first
trailer, and then read the graphic novel. I was a little worried but
it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the action and I wouldn't mind it
becoming a series of movies. Prequels and sequels.
Tomorrow, I swear, will consist of reflective journal writing. And
maybe some textbook chapter reading. All of the things. They need
to be done.
Finally, last night I read a bit from the introduction to The
Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm: The complete
First Edition translated by Jack Zipes. In it there was a quote
from the Brothers that I liked. It was in response to readers and
critics at the time not thinking some of the stories were appropriate
for children. I also think it can be interpreted more broadly and
applied to a variety of things, even in the modern world.
“Nothing can better defend us than nature itself, which has let
certain flowers and leaves grow in a particular color and shape.
People who do not find them beneficial, suitable for their special
needs, which cannot be known, can easily walk right by them. But
they cannot demand that the flowers and leaves be colored and cut in
another way.”
