Today started off a bit slow but I had goals. Before lunch I
accomplished things. I started by making a couple posts on my
discussion threads for this week, one for each class. One required a
bit of research so that extended things a bit. I also signed up for
a few different listservs because that seems to be a thing librarians
do. They were mentioned in one of the discussion posts and they
sounded interesting. It took me way too long to figure out how to
sign up for them but I managed it eventually. When I finished that I
moved on to my taxes. It is still mildly depressing to see my gross
income. This year the federal and state governments felt
particularly bad for me because my returns are nice. Assuming I did
everything right and I don't end up getting audited and thrown in
jail. I'm sure that's a thing.
This afternoon I checked for new content for the coming week of
classes and there wasn't anything so I took the rest of the day off.
I downloaded Shoppe Keep, an Early Access game on Steam where
you build up a shop in a medieval village. It's kind of like
Recettear but not as fun. It is fun but the pacing is off.
Nothing really happens in the morning, which lasts five minutes, then
there is a big rush for the five minutes during the day, and then the
evening is slow again. Also, the progression is really slow. You
have to earn points to unlock stuff and I feel like I'm doing
something wrong because I only seem to get a few points per day and a
lot of the stuff I need to unlock costs a lot of points. I think the
game has potential, though.
Tonight my sister came over and made enchiladas. She made the
chicken enchiladas that she makes for her and my mom, and she made me
fake chicken with peppers and black beans. There was also Spanish
rice, which I added into the mix. She also “successfully” made
rice and broccoli in her new pressure cooker. I put that in quotes
because the final product was good but the pressure cooker wasn't
behaving. It worked out, in a roundabout way, so all was good.
After dinner I played more Shoppe Keep and watched many
episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee after I finished
a few YouTube videos. Now I'm going to watch one more episode and
then maybe go to bed and listen to music for awhile. Or maybe just
go to bed and sleep. Who knows.
