Today was filled with thrill and spills... minus the thrills. And
the spills. Which is to say, it was a very average day. I spent a
lot of my morning and afternoon watching videos and avoiding
schoolwork. Despite that avoidance, I was productive. I posted both
of my introductions, responded to a couple posts, read a textbook
chapter, signed up for a listserv, emailed one of my professors proof
that I pre-ordered her book (which she needed for the publisher), and
took the syllabus quiz for one of my classes.
The quiz was tricky only because the wording on some of the questions
wasn't great and on others I just had to make assumptions. After
taking it the first time I missed one question out of twenty, which
were worth half a point each so I got a 9.5 out of 10. You could
take the quiz as many times as you wanted and only the highest score
would count. So I took it again. One of the questions had four
choices and you were allowed to pick more than one. The last option
was “all of the above”. Originally I thought I should just check
that one, but after I missed half a point I thought maybe it was a
multiple-select question rather than a multiple-choice question
because I needed to pick all of them. That ended up not being the
case but it was slightly confusing. On my third try I changed
another answer that I thought may have been the culprit but that
didn't work either. The fourth time was the charm after I changed
the answer to the question about when the first assignment after the
quiz was due. I assumed that was the next discussion post (because
it is listed as Discussion #1) which is due next Friday. Turns out
she was referring to the introduction discussion post. I thought
that might be the case when I originally took the quiz but it didn't
make much sense because I figured the introductions came first, then
the quiz, and then next week's discussion. Apparently not. In the
end I got all ten points though, so I'm happy. No sense starting the
semester half a point down if you don't have to.
So that productivity was pretty much my day. Tonight I had leftover
pizza for dinner and I did laundry. This afternoon my sister brought
over the ingredients so I can make the quinoa enchilada recipe. Even
though I still have pizza left I think I'm going to make it tomorrow
because if I don't I'd have to wait until next weekend. I want to
get it over with (in a good way) and see how it comes out.
Tomorrow I need to read four chapters and write a reflective essay
that I completely forgot about until earlier today. Or maybe not so
much forgot about but was reminded of today. That sounds better.
And it isn't due until midnight tomorrow so I've got more than enough
time. And I'll probably take the whole day putting it off. But the
dream would be to finish it before lunch, which would leave the
afternoon to read my textbook. We'll see if I can make that happen.
I kind of think the reverse will be true. It would be much easier to
wake up and read my textbook in bed, then have lunch, and spend the
afternoon writing. But again, we'll see.
