This morning it kind of sucked waking up. I have really sucked at
getting seven hours of sleep recently. I miss seven hours of sleep.
People somewhere in my vicinity are shooting off fireworks. That has
been illegal for almost twenty-two hours now.
At work today I did things. The day passed by very quickly. I came
up with some short descriptions for the tech classes, workshops, and
drop-ins so the new librarian could use them in a promotional thing.
I'm not a fan of coming up with short, bite-size descriptions. I'm a
wordy rambler.
I had a monthly check-in with my boss. Those usually last about five
minutes but today we managed to talk for about a half an hour. I
think that is a sign of all the crap I have going on at the moment.
So much crap.
I made a sign for a potential display for a library program in a
couple weeks. We'll see if I have time to pull books between now and
then. The sign looks cool though, so hopefully I get to use it.
I worked on the conference proposal a little bit today. Progress was
made but not a lot. Tomorrow will have to be the day that real
progress is made because the proposal is due on Friday. We'll see
what happens.
I got the reading cap raised for the adult summer reading program
because it was at a one hundred hours and a patron came in today who
was already at one hundred and one hours and still going strong. I
looked through some of the other adults signed up and there were at
least a few more who had passed one hundred hours. So we raised it
to one thousand hours. Right before I left I had a kid and his mom
come in and he initially told be he had read 720 hours. I did some
quick math and that ended up being the equivalent of reading
twenty-four hours a day for thirty days. The program has only been
going on for thirty-five days. I mentioned this fact and they
re-estimated down to 250 hours, because apparently all this kid does
is read all day every day. I don't know his life and we work on the
honor system at the library, so I entered in his time and gave him
fifty grand prize drawing tickets. I also discovered the reading cap
for teens was also 100 hours, so I need to get that bumped up too.
And I think that was pretty much my day at work.
After work I picked up Qdoba and headed to my Mom's house for dinner.
While we watched videos my Mom provided dessert in the form of an
ice cream pie with small Reese's cups that she made. It was
delicious. Later on my Mom gave my sister and I fidget spinners.
They are no longer cool, which I think is the perfect time to get
into them. Also, mine is green, and that's all that matters.
When I got home, I watered the flowers on my front porch and then
clicked around the internet for awhile before starting to write this.
It has taken me awhile to write this and it is now nearly eleven
o'clock. Thankfully I get to sleep in a little bit tomorrow. I have
to wake up a little earlier than I normally would because I am going
to meet my friend for lunch before work. That should be good times.
And now I'm going to record my audio journal. I really want to play
some Elite Dangerous but I don't know if that is a smart idea.
We'll see.
