I was a little better this morning about getting out of bed. Still
not great but getting better.
I opened this morning with another librarian so we split the normal
duties. When I was sharpening pencils I finally had enough of the
electric pencil sharpener and went and got an old manual one from the
admin copy room. The suction cup base only held for a little bit, so
I had to reset it a few times while sharpening a pencil, but it was
still less annoying than fighting the electric sharpener.
Before we opened I was able to set up the LEGOS in place of the
coloring page. A decent amount of the page was finished and we put
it up in the break room so staff can work on it. I borrowed the
LEGOS from the children's department and they gave me a giant bag
that covers half of the table. It's pretty great.
I did other stuff this morning but other than calling my homebound
patrons nothing is coming to mind. One of my patrons tried to talk
us out of coming because of how hot it was going to be. I appreciate
the concern.
When we got back from lunch it was game on. We were both already
sweating just walking from the building to the car. A great start.
Our first stop was the historical society to buy a book for a door
prize at the presentation tomorrow night. The historical society is
giving the presentation and they ended up giving us the book for
free, so that's pretty cool. We then moved on and made our
deliveries, which went well, minus the heat. It was probably only
around 100 degrees when we were out, which is “cooler” than it
was supposed to be, so there's that. After our last delivery we went
to the grocery store to buy a snack for the event tomorrow night.
And then we headed back to the library, where we got all our books
unloaded and processed.
I had a walkthrough and then I started working on updating my
spreadsheets. The teen librarian came up to work at our desk around
4:15PM and she was asking about whether the wellness screening
counted as personal time or if we had to get time back for it. My
boss said she thought it was personal time, which I was cool with,
but then the teen librarian checked with her boss, the head of the
children's department, and she said it counted as work time. Which
was annoying because then my boss told me I needed to get back thirty
minutes. I really wanted to finish my homebound stuff but I also
wanted to get the thirty minutes over with so I ended up leaving at
4:30PM instead of five o'clock.
I went to Qdoba and then headed to my house real quick. I wanted to
get the recording of the epic moment in the livestream last night.
And then I eventually headed over to my Mom's house for dinner.
After we ate I showed videos, starting with the livestream clip. I
ended up having to just show it on the computer instead of the TV
because I forgot that I record my OBS videos in the FLV format
instead of MP4, so it wouldn't work on the TV. But it all worked out
alright.
I left my Mom's house around eight o'clock and spent the rest of the
night watching YouTube videos, livestreams, and now I'm watching
rewatching Tove Lo's Coachella performance because one of her songs
came up on the livestream I was watching and I was in the mood.
Now I want to record my audio journal and maybe play a little Elite
Dangerous, not in VR, so I can make a little progress and maybe
figure out some system map controls that will work in VR.
