I woke up a little early this morning, because I set my alarm a
little early, and then I stayed in bed a little late, so I ran around
a lotta bit so that I could get to work on time. And I definitely
did.
Work started off well because the money drawer worked out nicely and
I didn't need to make a deposit or do any weird math to figure out
how much money to leave in the drawer. I'm always a fan of that.
My main goal for the day was to work on homebound stuff, and that's
what I did. I managed to finish my lists (minus one poetry book I
forget to look up before I printed the lists and my patron I go to
the shelves to pull books for). I also had a chance to pull most of
the books, which put me ahead of schedule. I'll easily be able to
finish that up tomorrow, along with printing bookmarks and bagging
everything up. It will be a successful weekend. Other than that
whole forgetting to write a newspaper article thing. That's kind of
a big thing. And will continue to nag me. But hey, homebound
progress.
With the rest of my day I helped patrons. I helped a lady with a
cane carry her books downstairs, I attempted to help another with an
app but had to go with a help ticket instead, helped a few more find
books, handed out a bunch of prize tickets, and told an older patron
that we couldn't scan the giant stack of pictures and plaques and
whatever else he wanted to leave with us. He has come in several
times before and I have helped him scan things before but today was
just absurd. I told him I could show him how to use the scanner, and
that the bigger stuff would probably require scanning multiple times
and using software to join them back together because our scanner is
big but not that big. He didn't seem interested in that so I offered
the FedEx store as an alternative that might be able to help him out.
It was really tempting to actually do the scanning myself but I
don't have that kind of time anymore and it is far outside of my job
description.
I also printed/cut 500 more prize tickets and talked to my coworker
about a bunch of different things. He has put in his two weeks
because his lease is up in a couple weeks and he is moving out of
town to find a big kid job now that he has finished college. Kind of
sucks because he's a really good worker and he's fun to work with.
And now I'm going to have to get to know yet another new employee.
After work I came home, ate dinner, and started watching season three
of iZombie. I am still enjoying the show and I really hope it
comes back for a fourth season. I've heard rumors the third season
may be the last. My fingers are crossed. The best episode so far,
at least for Major, is when he ate teenager girl brains. “She
slept with Blaine, which first of all, ew. And second of all, I
can't even.”
And now it is almost 1:30AM. I started writing this sometime after
ten o'clock I think, maybe closer to eleven o'clock. I don't know.
But I do know it has taken way too long to write this.
