This morning I was woken up by housekeeping trying to open my door
around 9:20AM. They actually did open the door but the deadbolt
stopped it from opening very far. I had planned on waking up at
9:30AM, so it wasn't really a big deal, but it was a little bit
jarring. After getting up to check on that I went back to the bed
and laid there for a little bit longer before getting up and getting
ready.
I got everything packed up, put in my car, and checked out by
10:45AM. I then waited for my friend because I was going to be his
ride to the deli for a last group lunch. I didn't have a lot of time
to look at the menu because I ended up talking to my friend's dad
right up until the waitress wanted to take my order, so I just went
with a salad and bread. It wasn't anything special but it was good.
After lunch we said our goodbyes, I gave my friend his card, and then
I headed out. I stopped at the next town over (because that has
become my thing) to top off my gas tank. I also bought some water
and cookies for the trip.
I managed to get through my Playing with Fire
by Tess Gerritson. I'm not really sure how I felt about the
explanation for the events happening to the main lady, because at
certain points it is built up in various ways, most of which were
more supernatural than natural, but it went with an Occam's razor
approach. Despite that, I liked the overall story, which is really
about the Jewish people living in Italy before and during WWII. That
story was not what I was expecting from the description of the book
but I liked it.
I pulled a me and turned too early,
going to the wrong toll booth instead of crossing over the interstate
to go to that toll booth. The one I used put me on the interstate
going back to the down I had just driven by. I took the next
available exit, which was a toll booth, and my mistake cost me $0.40.
Kind of annoying, but oh well. And it gave me more time to listen
to Ready Player One,
which I switched to after finishing Playing with Fire.
When I got home I unloaded
everything and then packed up my laundry and headed to my Mom's
house. While there I watched the last half of The Boss
with Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell. I need to see it all the way
through now because it was really funny. I also clicked around the
internet and took a little nap.
After my laundry was finished I came
back home and spent the rest of the night watching YouTube videos and
researching. I pulled the trigger on a new computer and the HTC
Vive. Good grief. I am hoping I don't have buyer's remorse with
either of them. I believe I have thirty days with the Vive so I have
time to change my mind if I end up not liking it. I also ended up
going with another CyberPower desktop. I was originally going to by
all the individual components because it was going to be cheaper, but
tonight when I added up the individual component prices for the build
I made with CyberPower, the CyberPower build was quite a bit cheaper,
especially with the 5% off coupon code I used. I also ended up with
a better computer for not too much more than I was originally
planning on because it worked out that way.
It is now one o'clock and I am going
to go to bed. Tomorrow I will catch up on my audio journal, but not
tonight.
