This morning I slept in and then
read through a book of photography covering immigration at Ellis
Island. Then I read volume one of the comic The Beauty
on my computer. Still not a big fan of reading comics on the
computer, but the story was interesting. The idea is that there is a
new STD that makes the infected beautiful, giving them model-like
bodies. And rather than trying to avoid an STD, millions of people
want to become infected because the only known side effects are a
mild fever and increased appetite. But then people's heads start
combusting. Initially, the anti-beauty movement is blamed but it
turns out this is the final side effect of the infection. A group of
scientists knew this would happen and developed a cure but were fired
and branded criminals because the pharmaceutical company wanted to
release medicine that would prevent the combusting head thing but
wouldn't cure people because they wanted them to keep buying the
medicine. Something shady and I'm sure a company would never do that
in real life. Now I need to continue the series so I can see what
happens.
After that I ate lunch, took a
shower, and then headed to my Mom's house to do laundry. While that
happened I finished watching Troy
and read through a book of photographs from WWII. One of the
pictures shows a bunch of German school children wearing gas masks
lined up in the street for a practice drill. It reminded me of the
episode of Doctor Who
where the kids have gas masks grafted to their faces saying “Are
you my mummy?” Super creepy.
Tonight was Chipotle night. The
lack of crowd was nice but the food was just so-so. After dinner we
watched videos, talked, and my Mom gave us a few things she got for
us on her vacation. Around 7:30PM I loaded up my laundry and headed
home.
I spent the rest of my night not
really doing much. I mainly just watched YouTube videos and Power
Rangers. I learned that the
lead actress in iZombie
was actually the yellow ranger in the RPM
series. The red ranger in the same series plays the druggie neighbor
in Jessica Jones on
Netflix. Small ranger world. The black ranger also looks familiar
but I can't tell if it is just because he looks like Superman from
Smallville or if it is
from something else.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do at
work tomorrow. I think my main goal for this weekend is to come up
with the class schedule for next semester. I believe one thing that
won't be appearing on the schedule, if I get final say, is the
genealogy class. I got an email from the lady at the genealogical
society yesterday asking about promotion, because she hadn't seen
any, and wanting to know how many people were signed up. I let her
know how many people had signed up and got the information about the
advertising of the class from the PR lady. She emailed me back today
saying how disappointed she was with the lack of promotion and blah
blah blah. I forwarded that email to the PR lady and she replied to
the genealogical society lady, apologizing and saying it would be
better in the future. The genealogical society lady was disappointed
with the attendance at the class last semester and is now
disappointed again. I can understand her frustration but at the same
time, asking her to do the class at the library is mutually
beneficial. And she acts like we should be bending over backwards in
appreciation for the favor she is doing for us. I find that
annoying. And I don't like how she talked to us in the email today.
So, I plan on taking a break from the genealogy class next semester,
and maybe the following semester. If people are interested we can
direct them to the genealogical society. A break will be good for
everyone and maybe it will build more interest in the class when we
do offer it again.
Now I'm going to record my audio
journal and go to bed.
