I woke up at three o'clock in the morning again because of my throat.
I'm kind of tired of three o'clock in the morning.
I woke up for real around 7:00ish when my alarm went off so I could
get ready and go get my haircut. The lady who cuts my hair had
written my appointment down wrong, however, so I ended up not going
in until 10:30, not 9:00. It would have been nice to get another
hour or two of sleep but I can't complain because that is her first
appointment mistake with me in three decades. That's not a bad
record. And I've forgotten my appointment at least a few times over
the years so I am far from perfect. It also gave me time to eat
breakfast, so that was nice.
I left the house a little early so I could go to Walgreens and get
some more medicine and cough drops. And then I got my hair cut. It
was overdue so I'm glad I was able to finally get it done.
I went to work at noon and it was a long freaking day. As the hours
passed by I came more and more convinced that maybe my current
illness is less cold and more allergies. My nose was running almost
constantly and I had a perpetual feeling of needing to sneeze. It
was exhausting trying not to sneeze. By the end of the night I had a
headache, I imagine from the constant sniffing all day long. The
back of my mouth where my wisdom teeth used to be also hurt, I assume
from breathing through my mouth all day because my nose was
congested. The cool air passing over my gums was not a good thing.
I took something specifically for allergies near the end of the night
when my cold stuff had worn off so we'll see if that does anything to
help. If it does I'll be going the allergy route from here on out
and see if I can get passed this. I'm kind of over it.
My day at work was once again uneventful. I spent pretty much all of
my day, when I wasn't helping the occasional patron, working on my
tutorial. I brought my laptop today so I could actually do things
and I accomplished quite a bit. I believe I finished all of my
slides and got them added into my video editing software. I think
the goal will be to read the script all the way through and then cut
it up and adjust the length of each slide and the transitions within
slides to match what I'm saying. It would probably be easier to just
advance through the slides as I'm talking but then I couldn't do the
transitions I want and it is kind of hard to read a script and run a
slideshow at the same time. We'll see how it goes. I might get
frustrated enough with trying to match things up that I'll go back
and do it all together. And then there are the subtitles. I'm going
to try using YouTube's subtitle editor after I upload the video, to
type in and align the subtitles with my script. If it works out it
will be quicker than making a subtitle file.
And that was pretty much my day. The only eventful thing was tonight
when a young gentleman knocked a young lady to the ground and was
laying on top of her. This happened in an aisle out of sight but I
heard the commotion and rolled back a little bit in my chair so I
could see them and asked them both to stand up, which they did. It
appeared to just be a more physical form of flirting. I think they
were part of the younger group of people, who used to come to the
library every week but then were asked to take a break after they got
a little too rambunctious, but are now back. At least I think
they're back. There were a lot of younger people around the library
today and there were several books out of place in the stacks, which
was kind of the calling card of this group. That and putting stacks
of books in the restrooms, which I don't believe happened tonight.
Now I'm going to record my audio journal and go to bed. It would be
nice if I could sleep through the night but I'm not going to hold my
breath. Tomorrow I will probably continue to work on my tutorial. I
also have a meeting with my former practicum supervisor to talk about
our conference presentation. I'm looking forward to the weekend. It
is going to be busy but at least I won't be in public and can sniff
my runny nose
