This morning I went and got my cutout from the kindergarten room and
put it on the landing between the second and third floor. Sometime
later in the day one of the fourth grade teachers moved it right
inside the doorway to the third floor so it would scare people as
they walked by. Then she moved it right inside the door to the other
fourth grade room. After school the librarian sent me a picture of
it peaking out from the side of the vending machine in the lounge.
The cutout had a very active day.
There were two tests this morning along with a couple make-up kids
mixed in. Yesterday several of the first graders had their tests
exit out on them and that happened a couple times today but it has
been far less of a nuisance than State Assessments, because those
were just entirely broken. Yesterday after school I went up to the
SPED room and played around with the router they have for their
laptops and got it working again. There was a lot of testing and
cord swapping going on to narrow down the problem and my final
diagnosis was two of the ethernet ports in the wall not working.
Luckily at least one of them was working so the laptops are back up
and running. They still worked obviously without an ethernet
connection to the internet but you have to be hardwired to take MAP
tests. And now they can again. Now that MAP testing is almost over.
When I wasn't testing or updating my spreadsheet, I editing some
pictures for one of the receptionists. Or secretaries. I never
really know what to call them. Anyway, one of them asked me to print
out some pictures of one of the first graders so she could give them
to the girls grandma. The girl hasn't been around for MAP testing
but I thought maybe she was absent. Turns out her family fled the
state in the middle of the night after an investigation was almost
started when her teacher noticed bruises all over her back and it was
found out that her grandpa had beaten her with a belt. Hopefully the
grandma that is getting the pictures is not connected with the awful
grandpa. And hopefully when the family fled, they didn't take the
grandpa with them. Although the parents haven't had the best
judgment so who knows. As for the pictures, I think I did a pretty
good job. On one of them she had glowing white eyes and I thought it
would look weird if I tried to color them black so I ended up cutting
out one of her iris' from another picture and pasting it in place of
both white eyes in the other picture, and then messed with it a bit
to get it to look right. It looked pretty believable, especially
when you didn't know I had done it (because I checked with one of the
fifth grade teachers). I made them all 5x7 and the receptionist
wanted them printed on photo paper but apparently glossy photo paper
doesn't work with laser printers. They came out all smeared and
looked like scary modern art. So we went with cardstock instead.
It was an early-release day but that was postponed about fifteen
minutes when the school went on lockout after there was a shooting at
a convenience store in town. There was announcement about the
lockout and telling staff to check their email but the email
basically just said there was a lockout, not very informative. We
didn't actually find out what happened until after it was all over.
Hopefully if there is a more imminent threat more information will be
given.
Before heading home I stopped at the book fair and bought four books
for the price of two because they were all buy-on-get-one. The ones
I got all looked interesting, which is why I bought them, and it will
cover four weeks in my goal to read a book a week this summer.
When I got home I let the dogs out, ran on the elliptical for a bit,
and then took a nap because I was up until almost one o'clock in the
morning last night. The rest of my night was spent doing the same
old thing. I played Tera for
awhile, knocking out several bigger quests which allowed me to level
up a couple times, and I crafted a badass bow and enchanted it
several times. I currently feel like a mild badass but I know as
soon as I go into a region with slightly harder mobs I'm going to
feel way outmatched again.
Thanks to my nap I don't feel
incredibly tired at the moment, despite all the yawning. I might try
and read a little before attempting sleep. My mom got me Pooh
and the Psychologists: In Which It Is Proven That Pooh Bear is
