This morning overslept. My alarm went off at six o'clock, or so I
assume because I didn't become aware of the new day until about an
hour later, which is half an hour later than I usually start getting
ready on days I open. I still managed to get to work on time but it
required a bit of rushing around. Not a fan of that.
I did things at work this morning. I'm sure of it. I'm thinking
most of my time was spent watching usability recordings. I also did
a little work on my budget presentation. There was also other stuff
but nothing is coming to me. It's late and I didn't get a lot of
sleep last night, despite that unintentional extra hour.
One thing I do remember, because it just came to me, is that the teen
librarian and one of the youth librarians came tromping up the stairs
together this morning and were telling me to put my green jacket on
before they even got to the top. They were both wearing green today,
coincidentally, and the teen librarian is in charge of the library's
Instagram account so she wanted to document it. We ended up taking
three pictures, one for the library's Instagram, one for the teen
librarian's personal Instagram, and a third just in case I guess. It
was pretty funny. I saw one of the pictures and I look like my
cutout. Very two-dimensional. It's odd.
This afternoon I also did things, whatever they may have been. At
the end of the day I had a meeting with the PR coordinator and the
head IT guy to discuss the future of the tech training website. It
started late because my boss was supposed to be there but she ended
up forgetting about it. While we waited we talked about random
things, including the problem with too many options, because I
brought up not looking forward to testing beds like Goldilocks. I
also mentioned that after work I was going to talk to the carpet
people and maybe go buy a microwave. The PR coordinator told me not
to because she had one and said I could have it. Sweet.
The meeting itself went well and it was very productive. It looks
like we'll have everything set up for the next round of classes next
semester. In the meantime I'm going to continue using my site. My
boss remembered the meeting right as we were wrapping things up
because I needed to leave (I was taking off a half an hour early to
make up for having to come in a half an hour early for the insurance
meeting). Do to the slight delay of trying to catch up my boss on
what happened in the meeting I got off about ten minutes late, but
I'm not making a fuss about it because that plays havoc with my
timesheet.
Once I left I went to the carpet place to get more information about
the installation. The guy I originally talked to said they had me
down for Monday-Wednesday because apparently the area is large enough
that it might take three days. Fingers crossed it doesn't. I also
mentioned not needing the cables and telephone cords coming up out of
the floor so those didn't need to be worried about.
From there I went to Home Depot. I wrote down the price ranges of
various things I may want to get at some point, like ceiling fans and
door handles. I also looked at light switches and outlet cover
plates. Turns out there are several different types of switches and
I didn't know what type I needed so I decided to look it up and come
back later. As for the cover plates, I want some that are larger
than normal because whoever did the drywall work in the basement did
a horrible job cutting out the outlet holes and there are gaps around
some of the current plates. I lined the larger plates up on my
notebook and made a mark on the paper so I could use that as a ruler,
holding it up to the outlets in the house and see if it will be
enough to cover the hole. I'm going to do that tomorrow. When I got
home I looked up the light switch thing so I now know which one I
need to buy. Another thing on the list for tomorrow. Before leaving
I took a look at their key selection, which was pretty poor. There
is one more place I'm going to check but if that doesn't work out it
looks like I'll need to go the online route.
Tonight I watched YouTube videos and continued watching the second
season of iZombie. I also agreed to take the PR Coordinator's
microwave after she sent me a couple pictures of it. I asked her how
much she wanted for it and she said it was free. I'm going to pay
her in a cross stitch. It will either be the one that says “0 Days
without sarcasm” or “A swift kick in the butt $1.00”. She
liked both ideas so I'll need to sort that out. Hopefully by
tomorrow night because we're having a craft night for the department
as my boss' house and the cross stitch would be a very convenient
project.
Anyway, now I'm going to bed because it is still late, even later
than when I started writing this, and I've got to wake up in the
morning.
