This morning I woke up around 6:30AM, which was way too early, but I
was awake so I decided to read. I started reading Trigger Warning
by Neil Gaiman. I liked the introduction because he gave a brief
history of each of the stories and it was nice to have some context
for them. After reading through all that and a couple stories I
curled up and went back to sleep.
For the rest of the day I read more, watched YouTube videos, and did
a little bit of laundry. I continued reading short stories, most of
which I liked but one was definitely over my head because it felt
like I was missing the point. Not the first time that has happened
to me with Neil Gaiman. I also continued reading Shutter Island.
I am nearly through the first day. I have a vague recollection of
the movie but not enough to really know what to expect with the book.
I'm into it so far though.
I had more interactions with the bank today regarding my quest for a
loan. They needed more explanations and documents even though it was
all reiterations of what I had already sent them. They also brought
up the roof again. The goddamn roof. That thing won't go away. I
really don't get everyone's obsession with it at this point. I
already agreed to take it as-is, it's in the contract, but everyone
is still talking about it. I also heard from the banker I've been
talking to since the beginning and now my mom needs to sign on as a
co-borrower because I haven't been working at the library long
enough. My mom thought that would be the case from the beginning but
the banker was convinced it wouldn't be necessary. Less than two
weeks left and wrenches are still being thrown. This is why I have
tried to not get my hopes up too much, because who knows what the
hell is going to happen next.
Right now I'm finishing up The Purge: Election Year. I have
seen the previous movies, none of which are great but it's an
interesting premise. Also terrifying. When the movie is over I'll
probably read some more before going to bed. Tomorrow I have to
open. Then I'll spend a couple hours watching a virtual conference
before I go to lunch, and then going out to deliver homebound books.
It is going to be a long, fast day.
